While waiting for the Form 4 to clear, trying to finalize what this little critter will look like.

At this moment I'm trying to figure out the front sight. The barrel has been cut so that there's about 1.25 in. between the barrel band and where the stock ends and threading begins.

The barrel is thick enough that my machinist buddy could cut a 3/8 dovetail and slide a regular Ruger front sight insert into it and it'd be the right height for the factory rear.

I want something a little snazzier looking, as if Bill Ruger had decided to sell factory walnut stocked SBR Carbines in the mid-'70s.

So wondering if anyone knows the length of a 1/8th-in. tall Williams Shorty Ramp? I'm thinking that would look very classy as the front sight config.

I did call Williams Gun Sights up and was told there "sight guy" wasn't in today. Just trying to see if any of y'all has one mounted that could give me the length.
They are roughly 1.5" long but you can cut the tail off as short as you like. You could also put the section of barrel with the original front sight on it in the lathe and bore it out, then turn the barrel down behind the threads for a snug slip fit and solder it in place. Just an idea
Thank you, Kid.

I asked a rep on Brownell's and the said it was 1.75-in.: did you measure one you have?

Wondering if he gave spec for long one...

Strongly considering just having my guy do a 3/8th dovetail and rocking an XS front sight combined with a Marble Arms Bullseye rear sight.
I'm not at work today so 1.5" was just a guess, but you can cut the tail down as much as you want. The only screw is under the dovetail and 2 minutes with a file or belt sander will have the tail end recontoured or shortened.
