I've fiddled with and replaced several Model 70 extractors. I just picked up a Super Express and have thrown on an early Williams milled steel extractor. It is tight, making it require too much effort in getting a cartridge under there. What is the best way to reduce that tension? Thanks.
Gently (the operative word) and "slightly" bend the tail outward..

Have you tried to manually chamber and round and close the bolt yet? 50/50 sez it won't chamber.. Lemme know.
Thanks. Definitely easier said than done. grin That stuff has a pretty good memory. I'll work on it more this evening. And no it won't close on a manually chambered round.
Be certain that the mid section of the extractor is not contacting the bolt body. I have seen this in extractors from Williams and Wisner. The tail of the extractor is simply too close to the bolt body. GD
Thanks. This one isn't no.
Got it working. Thanks.
