I have two guns with these safety's. One is missing the detent spring and ball. Can' seem to find anywhere. Anyone have any ideas? I see equivalent replacements today use a nylon pin or rod? Maybe thoughts on how to make one? Thanks
you have two so you can measure the ball diameter and spring from the one. brownells sells detent balls in small packs and wolff sells all types of springs. buehler didn't actually make the balls and springs. I'm sure they bought stock items in quanities. McMaster-carr and some of the large supply distributors have what you also need but you don't want to buy 100 or so of each. if you don't want to take the other one apart measure the hole and it will give you the dimensions of the ball and spring you need to be looking for.
Put one of my side swing safety conversions on both of them, you won't look back!
Thanks. That is what I plan to do. Hoping the second one is in there. I had actually called Brownells the other day. They couldn't look anything up so also suggested I measure. Jakob- What do the side swings run? Any other alterations I need to do? Shroud, cocking bolt, etc.?
I modify your bolt sleeve with the PM safety kit. They are a bit more work than the Mauser ones I do, $145 each.
Thanks. I would just need to send in the bolt? How long do they take?
+1 on the side swing safety, I recently had Ed La Pour install one of his on my 1922 M2 Springfield. No matter whose side swing safety you choose it's a vast improvement over the Buehler.

On the Springfield, I would need the barreled action for fitting. It would depend on the blueing as a timeline, probably less than a month.
