I have a chance to buy a type 38 action. I would put or perhaps more likely have another put on an ER Shaw barrel on the action. Chamberings I'd consider include 6.5x06. My question is if the magazine is long enough for this cartridge without having long bullets being seated deep.
Autocorrect strikes again.
Thanks. 6.5x55 sounds good.
I have seen a few Arisaka Type 38s that have been rebarreled to 257R, 22-250, 243, 308 and 358 just to name a few. I like the Type 38 myself, but the big draw back is the palm operated safety, there is an after market safety for Arisakas available, but most guys just stick with the original safety.
Mine is in 6.5 Roberts. Shoots 140gr bullets into .6" and 120gr bullets in to 3" patterns
I have another action that was opened up to magnum before I got it. It will become a 6.5 RM.
'06 is too long, but 260, 6.5x55 ... will work
Not long ago there was a Type 38 converted to 6.5RM on one of the auction sites, it was there for a long time.
6.5X257 (an oldie), 6.5X57 (European), 260 Rem (feeding issues???).
