That was popping up on the right hand side of my screen...right next to the scroll bar...I accidentally clicked on it while trying to scroll the page down & it tried to take over my computer by opening several different "tabs"...just thought you might want to know...

I'm glad somebody mentioned this, because I spent quite awhile fooling with my computer the other day, thinking I was infected. It hasn't happened for a few days. Then today some other site tried to do the same thing, but wasn't as persistent. Even dumping cookies and using CCleaner didn't work.
there are ads on this site?
Same issue here, and it only happens on this website.
I access this site from my smart phone quite a bit and I get a lot of pop-ups and re-directs. Just this past weekend I clicked on Hunters Campfire and was directed to a porn site. frown
miner, is it

I've ben having the same trouble if it is. Adaware, malwarebytes, and AVG full paid version can't find it on my PC, which would make sense if it's on the 24hcf server. It's a PITA. mad

and your sad why???
I expect that ad revenue pays the bills for this site and many of those ads are automatically selected through Google or perhaps other search engines. If you do a Google search for some products and go to websites for those products and then come back to 24hr you'll often see ads for those same products.

What that means is the Rick Bin doesn't prescreen all the ads that pop up and some of those ads don't behave well.

I keep the ads because they quite often put up products I've been looking at or for based on my search history...
I am still getting w32roguegen virus almost every time I visit here. Don't get that on any other web site.
You probably do not have the right protections; it never happened to me.
I was getting these a few weeks ago when I opened up a thread. I would click on a thread and the gaming site would open up along with the thread that I was trying to read. Not all threads but some. I finally got it to quit by deleting cookies both here and on my computer. I had to do it several times but I finally got them all, I guess. miles

STEELHEAD? grin grin grin
I keep getting blocked pop-up alerts for a website called "ar.voicefive.com", which is something I never have had any continuous problems with in the past on the 24 Hour Campfire website. After watching it for over a week now I've noticed that the only time I get that blocked pop-up alert is when there is a Lowe's appliance advertisement in one of the sponsor fields, most often the horizontal ad panels at the top or bottom of the page.

That's it. That's the main culprit on my PC and Norton doesn't stop it. The other PC that has Avast has never been bothered by it, that I'm aware of. I sometimes use it but usually the kids do. It may just be that I don't surf here enough using that computer, to have gotten the avaz on it.

Same one that I'm seeing.......I only see it when I visit here.......anyone had this hijack on any other site??

For about the past couple of weeks I've also been getting alerts from my anti-virus program of various types malware attempts it has blocked. I haven't noticed any definite pattern to when it happens other than so far it only has occurred here and no other website.
Guys:

I'm investigating here, but really most of the ad servers I'm running on 24hour are pretty widespread on the Internet, which means you are not going to run into anything here that you wouldn't run into at any other big site.

Still, I'm investigating, and I recommend for anyone having a problem to download and run CCleaner (https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbth..._THE_CAMPFIRE_SEEMS_SLOW_FOR#Post3059999) or here (http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/). Run that bad boy, login again, and I think you should be OK.

BTW, I'm running a PC with Firefox, a iPad and an iPhone with Safari, and so far nothing.

Got some hounds on the scent though ...

At home I run Firefox and have had no problem.

At work, they have ie, and I had to explain the popup slam of XXX rated porn that came up last night.

Which I was in the dark about, until I seen this thread.
Rick

I visit a lot of sites and this is the only place I've ever had the redirect problem......I'm running a MAC......the problem IS on this site.

When it hits, it automatically opens windows at:

http://seth(dot)avazutracking(dot)net

Most of the time, if I close the window, it opens another, sometimes multiple windows.

If this was on my computer, it wouldn't only be happening on this site.

Same issues here.
I run CCleaner on a daily basis.
Running a PC with Firefox for browser.
Even after running CCleaner I had the same issue.
if you guys are using Firefox, the add on, "NoScript" is golden.
I've been infected here several times in the last couple of weeks. Both on my home computer and work computer. It's pissin' me off.
I haven't had that problem yet, but of coarse I run Ad Block Plus.
Just got it again......there was a game type advert on the right margin with a "play now" button floating on the ad......I didn't click or scroll over the ad.
Perusing the campfire I just had my anti-viruses alert me to another trojan which I had to delete. This is becoming a very infected site.
Adfender on both home and work computers, have not had any nasties on either.

And it is free.
Couple of times something just opens a window repeatedly. Then after a couple times of closing the window, it goes away.
I havent seen it, but those Victoria Secret ads are on the side bar. blush LOL

Gunner
I use Safari's version of adblock, and I never see this stuff on my Mac, hell, my Linux box is even safer.
OK Guys, I am going to need some help here. Screenshots please.
I had the same problem when I was running Internet Explorer. Since I started using Firefox, it get much less but still get a hit once in awhile on the popups.
I did set my popup blocker to stop them and that took it down to about once a week.

I have also gotten a number of infections from this site for sure. I've checked every other site I use and this is the one I always get the problems from.

Hope you find it Rick, but some of these new viruses are pretty well hidden unless a pro digs it out of the bushes.

Bob
Having the same issues again as yesterday, just started again.

Only happens on the campfire. Running FireFox. Yesterday morning did my usual full virus scan and it came up clean. After visiting the fire I picked up 3 java exploits. Shut it down and cleaned it. Been good again till just now.

Yesterday when it happened I tried 24hourcampfire search from google and it came up with a flag telling me this was an untrusted site and to enter at my own risk.

Tried it again a few ago and it's not doing it anymore.

If it does it again I'm going to sit out till it's resolved.
Here's the site that came up with the exact link.

Pop Up

Screenshots are key. If people could snap screen shots of the stuff you are talking about it would go a long way to help in dealing with.

Some things for guys to know about virus's. There are virus's that attack the host file on your computer and it messes with your DNS settings.

I can manually do it on most anybodies computer but the way it works is the following.

All websites are basically an IP address. The host file tells your browser how to translate those www.blahblah.com addresses and convert them to an IP address. You can go into that file and manually tweak it so that some really interesting things happen.

I can make it so that every time you attempt to go to the campfire, it redirects and send you to www.oink.com instead. Or, I can make it just generate several different pop-ups.

These DNS tweaks would largely go undetected by an anti-virus program.

I only say all this to point out that it's quite possible to have these things happen only when you visit the campfire, and the problem still not be the campfire itself, but your computer.

On multiple computers?

For us non-geeks it's the campfire that's fu.ckin this sh.it up.

If you came over to my house for dinner and got food poisoning it'd be my fault. I could give you food poisoning by cooking for you at Mannlichers house if I wanted to, but it'd still be my fault. We're eating at Casa De RickBin and that's what's payin' his bills. He needs to clean his kitchen. wink
The only way I have been able to avoid it is to disable java when browsing the campfire and only the campfire. Once I get the popups I run my scanner and have the same 3 java exploits each time. I clean them and no problems again till I visit the fire.

Each time there is a different set of ads displayed.

This is the site in the screenshot.

Reloading like crazy and I cannot make it happen here.

Please keep the screenshots coming. Also, is there a gamer ad in any of the regular zones? I see Zeiss, McMillan, MechanixWear, and Nikon in the normal zones.

Think of it like samenella poisoning. It usually originates at one farm but that farm distributes to 100 distributors and each of those distributors distribute to20 stores. You shop at one of those stores. Then you visit a non-infected store. You still have the infection even if the store doesn't. Just because you cough every time you enter that one non-infected store doesn't mean it's that store that is your problem. The problem came from somewhere else and is now in your body.

So, the answer to your question is, yes. Quite possible that several computers got the same samenella poisoning from different stores and only manifest here. That doesn't mean that the problem is here.

All that said, it's also quite possible that the problem is here. The only quandary that presents is why are only a dozen or so computers having problems when thousands are here daily? That leads me to believe that the source of the problem is not the Campfire.

All that to say, keep the information coming. The more blood Rick's hounds have to work with the better the chances they have at sniffing out the source.
Rick, I did a little snooping and stumbled upon this...

http://malwareremoval.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=60560

It seems that Google Analytics has been a pathway for a rootkit virus. Most likely it didn't come from here but since Google Analytics is used here the rootkit redirects manifest here.

It's likely that similar results could be had on other sites that run Google Analytics with Java.

See what your hounds think...
I will say that if it is a rootkit virus then you guys will probably need to get your anti virus company on the phone to walk you through fixing it. Those buggers are particularly nasty. I lost a whole week at work fishing one of those out.
I got hit with one today on a university computer using firfox. I was trying to reply to a thread.
It's the worst when a thread is opened.

I copy & pasted it a couple of days ago, but I'm not sure if I got it all...the last time this schitt started happening, it ended up costing me a new computer... I'm clean now, but am really careful when I go to scroll the page...

Same thing happened at home on the IPad. Problem is, kids use it more than I do and if it pops up and I fail to clear the history, they could wind up seeing it. Had a close call last night with the little one. Clicked on a thread here and up pops the porn. He was sitting next to me on the couch, but luckily, he was looking at the TV at the time. Wish I knew what was going on with the IPad.

it wasn't free
It has happened to me several times on my iPad and iPhone, but never my pc. Last week I was going to show a thread to my father in law. I clicked on the topic link and I am redirected to a porn site with some skank performing oral sex on a dude. I shut it down immediately and will never show the Campfire to family again. Very embarrassing.
I use Firefox with Adblocker, Pop Up Blocker and Ghostery. I see some places where Ghostery is blocking twelve trackers.

Have not had any problems at all but I am using UBUNTU and that might have something to do with it.

I am sorry so many are having problems here. Hope it gets fixed today.

Good guess grin, but actually it's because I was sitting in the recliner with my wife standing behind me when it happened. Luckily she either didn't see it before I got the screen closed or she didn't care.

Those are the same three addins I use and together (in Firefox in Windows) they are EXTREMELY effective. Surf without fear, regardless of platform! smile

Those of you using Windows and Firefox would do well to download Comodo IceDragon (not Dragon, ICE Dragon) -- don't blame me for the dumb names!

Anyway, Ice Dragon *is* Firefox code (recall Firefox is open source) but modified a bit by the security giant Commodo. Among other things, this browser uses Comodo's own DNS servers -- simply put, this is Firefox improved by a top-drawer security company. All Firefox addins work and Ice Dragon can even import your bookmarks, history, passwords from an existing Firefox installation (remember, it IS Firefox).

And now, we return you to your regularly scheduled computer geeks... grin

Here's a screenshot of an ad that popped up in a new tab twice in the last few minutes on Hunter's Campfire. I hope this works. A computer wizard I ain't!!

My ipad goes to porn also.

I was wondering how it could do it as, (some here won't believe this part but it is true) I have never looked at porn.........on my ipad.
Keerist! Since I posted the above screenshot, I've had the game site pop-up in new tabs twice. Plus, what's the deal with each page taking so long to load? Can it be connected to these pop-ups?

Correction-now I'm up to 3 game site pop-ups in the last few minutes. I think it's time to log out and take a break from the Campfire.

This is the exact screen that keeps popping up on me from this site.
Again I ran my virus program to dump the java exploit I picked up last night. Seemed to be going fine till just a few minutes ago. Picked it up again.

I'm out till it's fixed. I can't spend all my time tracking down exploits and viruses I picked up here.

If Rick wants everyone to run an ad block program it's not going to do much for his bottom line I imagine as the click thrus are going to plummet.
ad.media-servers.net
ad.adorika.com
ad.outsidehub.com
cma.ad.yieldmanager.net
These are the sites that are asking permission to add to my Trusted Sites, EVERY TIME I redirect to a new page, new thread, etc...the pop-ups are taking their toll on my patience to browse 24hour.
I addressed this months ago with back-page dysfuntion, the advertisements run the show around here with functionality of basic navigation.
These are different between the work and home computer. I will draft a list when I'm home.
Infectious.
I'm officially out. This is the 4th time after I cleaned up the last 3 times.
I am having NO problems from 3 different PCs, 2 WIN7 and 1 Vista, from 3 different ISPs. My home, Daughters house and work.

Chrome and Firefox with AD Blocker add ons.
Rick,
Thanks for the PM. Weirdly enough, there are 7 replies to this PM in MY message box. Is there a reply-all feature going on here? Or is something really messed up? AceNeights, Lhook7, Wageslave, bruinruin, Poboy & watch4bear are all part of this one string of conversation in my PM. Never seen this before.
Trying to capture a couple culprits to my backpage problem, these 3 links are in my browsing history, so they must be ad-ons:

r1.ace.advertising.com/site=8503
pubmatic.push.qwobl.net
sync.atomex.net/getuid?ag=PUBMAT

oddly enough, I'm not getting redirects or similar problems that the other members are experiencing.

Thanks for working on this/these issues.
This site is being cookie bombed.

For those that are experiencing problems, ditch Explorer and Firefox, download Opera. Tools, Preferences, Advanced, Cookies.

Check:

Accept only cookies from the site I visit.

Delete New Cookies when exiting Opera.

Ask me before accepting cookies.

Then click Manage cookies and delete everything. Uninstall your spyware programs and download new copies through Opera - run them....

When you surf on Opera in this mode you will quickly realize how many sites are tracking you and sticking you with cookies. You must accept cookies to log on and view content in many sites - click "remember my choices" on the pop-up Opera gives you when a site trys to give you a cookie, then choose to accept or refuse.

Refuse all sites that seem like ad bull$hit, accept cookies from sites you are visiting - all cookies will be deleted when you close Opera. You will have to log in to websites again everytime you close your browser.

When you come to 24hour campfire you will get bombarded with a cookie attack, 30+ bs cookies. Just keep refusing, clicking "remember my choices". Shortly you will have a clean browsing experience even when jack-offs are bombing your favorite site.

If you click in Manage cookies you will see folders for all those sites - those aren't cookies, they are your preferences. If you delete them, you will be asked again (you deleted the "remember my preferences" selection). If you screw up and refuse all cookies from a site, then later realize you need to accept them, just go back and delete that folder....

HTH

David
the campfire here has been infected with redirect viruses...

I have multiple times worked to clean them off my computer, and they keep returning...

I am a firm believer that the people who sell these Anti Virus programs are the same people who create the problem in the first place...

create problems to sell solutions for them...

my system keeps getting this "seth.avazutracking.net" infection...

it occurs when I try to open a page, or make a reply to something...

just letting everyone else know its on here.. somehow..

Rick Bin is looking into it..

I just wish you could personally track these bastards down and beat the living crap out of them.. I am not even sure what kind of mindset these kind of asses have.. but they need to physically be hurt and hurt bad...
My shield software keeps detecting and denying threats that keep trying to sneak aboard under Campfire ads.

If you don't have up-front shield software, you might be wise to acquire some kind of cleaner such as Microsoft Security Essentials or something like it.

I've had two computer crashes, with the concomitant loss of valuable programs and files, when I didn't have protective software to repel hostile boarders.

The scalded cat flees from hot water and from cold water and I've been scalded twice.
Thanks for the warning.

I can only blame liberals grin
About time someone call this advertising BS out! I get porn popups on my ipad ONLY on this site, and the desperately seeking Asian girls banner on the top. What kind of trash has Rick let in by taking the advertising package he permitted. These advertisements are causing a lot of issues.
Gentlemen:

I and a small group of affected posters have been dealing with this issue for a few days.

After an exhausting search and destroy mission entailing thousands of reloads and screenshots, the offending ad network was identified and sent packing.

For idevices:

Clean out:

As to the iPad users: "Clean out your Safari (Settings>Safari>Clear History then Clear Cookies and Data), that should eliminate it. "

If not, I'll need a screenshot:

i-device screenshots: hit home button (round bottom center) and sleep button (top right). You'll hear a click and you'll find it in your Photos. If you go to the photo of the screenshot and touch it, there will be an arrow to email it. Please send to [email protected].

For PC, clean out cookies (run CCleaner), a routine virus scan using your favorite program, and updated browsers and plug-ins should eliminate annoying messages.

If not, please send a acreenshot.

Thanks. I have been working on this for days, and if some remnant remains, I''ll do what I have to to find and eliminate it.
I've tried it in the past all that you have mentioned and will do so right now again. Last redirect I got was 2 days ago, it seems to happen every few days. I will report back if it happens again.
Screen shot sent
Did this offending ad network include the one that put up a twisted and I mean extreemly twisted porn site last week? Sorry no screen shotsick
Almost certainly. They're now pounding sand.

If you see ANYTHING like that again, please try and remember to grab a screenshot and send it to me asap! I take that stuff very seriously and would have put my foot up someone's a$$ this weekend if they were within range!

Sorry folks. They got by me ... at first.
I have not a clue how to take a screen shot..... Running an iPad these days.....?
