Winchester model 94 Questions - 06/05/09
My fiance' just came back from visiting her folks and well I guess they must think I'm OK. They had a couple of rifles that they thought would be best given to me since I'm the only one in the family that cares about such things.
Anyway, if you could take a look at the attached pictures I sure would appreciate it - I know next to nothing about old Winchesters and her dad knows not much either. I think its a model 94 Saddle Carbine - the ring is missing. The gun does not have the model stamped on it - it only says 30 W.C.F. and then "Nickel Steel Barrel Especially for Smokeless Powder" is also stamped on it. Based on the serial #519045 I think it was made in 1910. Boyond that I don't know much.
Is this a 1894 model 94?? Also, it came with a Marble Tang mount peep sight, any idea how it flips up? I tried but not sure how it works,
Lastly, I'd like to replace the saddle ring and the sight is also missing from the barrel so I'd like to replace that. Who sells parts for these that are period specific??
Thanks for any help you can give me, I appreciate it.
Frank
