Has anyone tried one of their "Hunter" style levers?

They look to be about 1/2 way between a factory lever, and a Wild West lever, which is what I'm looking for (I think the WWG's lever is a little to big for my taste)...



I was going to try one out on my 1894 .44 mag., and if it worked out, then also get one for my Marlin .444S.

I was going to order an entire new lever rather than getting my existing one bent. This way I can always go back to "Factory".

I have one on a 1895 and love it. stock loop always bruised my fingers.

I don't like the WWG size, either, and the factory one was too small for my hands with gloves.

The first one I tried was a DRC. Worked good, but didn't snug up close to the rifle, so you could feel the lever under your fingers. It didn't affect functionality but just persisted in bothering me. And, they don't seem to be available anymore....

The second one I tried is from Beartooth Mercantile. Perfect! It fit the rifle without any fitting, the lever kept the bolt closed without any filing, and my hand could squeeze the lever without feeling a big lump from the lever. And, they don't seem to be available anymore...

Glad to see there's an alternative if I happen to need one.

Did you get a complete new lever, or have them bend your existing one ?

Just wondering if a new lever is a "Drop-in" deal.

new and it is drop in. In full discloser I should say that the rifle came to me with the lever already on it. I have several others with factory levers that I am going to change out because of the way they rake my fingers during cycling. the Mule loop is a world apart in comfort.

I've got a couple and I like 'em. Just the right size.

Ordered one today, so far Muleman Gunworks seems very easy to communicate with.
Will let you know how it works out. It's about a 6 month wait for a new "Hunter" formed lever.

Looks and works action great, I'll be trying it out on the range in the next week or so and I'll be using it this deer season. If it all goes well, I'll be ordering another one for my .444.

So far I like it a lot.

I need one of these for my 1895G as it busts my knuckles under recoil.

Not for the faint of heart.

I cut mine off just shy of the 90* turn off the stock

and the other end close to the trigger guard.

I then fashioned a piece of steel to connect the ends

and silver soldered the ends together.

I covered the outside of the loop with leather.

Works fine. Mine looks like the one in the pictures.

A little larger would not hurt. Kenny
