I want a 475 linebaugh long lever action rifle and was told that I need a 444 marlin with the articulated carrier to build it out of. Does anyone know what serial number range that they used th articulated carriers in? The gunsmith told me that they only used it for a short time.
Thanks in advance
Mark

Every 444 I've ever seen that was built before about 1995 had the flapper on the carrier.

Mic mcpherson. I found a a nice ruger no. 3 in 45-70 and am going to have it rebarreled. Just can't see putting 6k into converting a 444 lever to 475 maximum when you can have a no. 3 rebarreled with a quarter rib with express sights, barrel band swivel and banded front sight for a little over $1000
