Wanting to buy a Winchester 1873 lever action in .22 cal. Looking for one in very nice original condition. Any help locating one, sure would be appreciated. Thank You!
Is your budget over 10k?
Wanting to stay between 1 & 3K. I've seen 73's in 80%+ condition and unmolested, for this amount in the not too distant past. I've just been concentrating more on 1876s and 1885 Hi & Low Walls.
If you can find an orgional unmolested 1873 chambered in 22 LR that will letter, 80% or better under 3k you better run out and buy a lottery ticket the same day. Their about as rare as hens teeth.
I really don't know where I made mention of one in .22 LR.(I am fully aware of the rarity of one in .22LR)(You must be reading something that I'm not). You do know that they did make these in .22 Short and .22 Long also!!!!!
Sorry the LR was just a typo. In either event there were less than 20k chambered in 22 according to Flayderman and only 350 according to Madis. Perhaps Maddis was referring to the Long Rifle? Both authors only reference the 22 short and long. The last few I have seen in the condition you describe were over several thousand dollars. In the price range you mentioned I typically see guns in the 40% range that are only good representative examples but neither investment grade or collectables. Of corse everything in this hobby is subjective. The 1873 in 22 has been on the hot list for some time. Best of luck finding one.
