Good question. But I think I'm a sucker for the 1886 type action.

Personally I'd go with the .500. Nothing the .460 can do that the .45-70 can't in a less expensive platform. Go big I say!

short barrel to get the full magazine. No sense in the extra 4".

I'm the opposite, I like the half magazines. Probably cuz I'm a sucker for the Winchester 71/64/65s. That said, in that caliber not much to be gained from the extra 4". Whichever one floats your boat! When you do get one though, it needs to be bragged upon here.

Wives may have a say in what gets purchased. Girlfriends not so much. Definitely go with the 500.
