550 cord inside the tent seams
The New Tipis for 2015 are also available with internal paracord reinforced seams
The cord increases tension strength 3 times over the already very strong 6 layered seam.
ask about this and all of our other custom options.
Happy 2015 from Wyominglostandfound!

Posted By: MontanaCreekHunter Re: 2015 changes - 12/30/14
That is funny. But Montana Creek is in Alaska and I live in CT. But anyways that picture of your tent set-up may help you sell your tent better. Those pictures of the mess in your garage, I don't see as a good marketing idea. Good Luck!
Posted By: whambasted Re: 2015 changes - 12/30/14
you bet! i have been having horrible luck selling these. mostly to poor souls who went with the normal crap and figured they needed something better.
and the mess helps me stay organized , ADD
works for me
Posted By: MontanaCreekHunter Re: 2015 changes - 12/30/14
Just found your website. Just wondering what makes your tipi's so much more then Seekoutside? I am in the market for a 6 man.
Posted By: whambasted Re: 2015 changes - 12/30/14
pride in detail and the ability to find simple solutions for common problems. be specific on your questions and i will give you specific answers. my stove for example. no loose parts to lose. sets up out of the bag in seconds instead of many minutes.
Posted By: MontanaCreekHunter Re: 2015 changes - 12/30/14
I see selling isn't your strong suit.

Ok what problems have you found/had, and what were your solutions?

I am not asking about a stove. I am interested like I said in a 6 man Tipi.

I am not sure if you are insinuating there are problems with seekoutside. But from everything I have read they seem to be good to go. As to your pricing if they were simple solutions why such a price difference?
Posted By: whambasted Re: 2015 changes - 12/30/14
what prices are you refering to? i do many things different. fabric choice for instance i have ver 20 fabric options from light and cheap, light and expensive. med. weights and heavy weights of fabrics such as dyneema and cordura. i use the ultralight stuff and i add sidewalls, my zippers are installed differently, my stovejacks are not sewn to the top cones... a weakness. my seams are full length guylines of 6 layers and will now include internal paracord. my stakeloops are super heavy duty.. my top cones are double layer cordura and dyneema. i use 138 and 92 bonded thread. instead of smaller and cheaper 69. etc. etc.
Posted By: whambasted Re: 2015 changes - 12/30/14
i make my own stovejacks that are heavier and much more durable than the silicone welding cloth that commercial jacks are made from. i use ykk waterproof zippers.... my warranty is unconditional lifetime even if you tear it. burn holes included. i know how to fix and replace everything on the tents. i taught myself this business. noone showed me how. i do it the way i need it and i use the hell out of the stuff.
Posted By: MontanaCreekHunter Re: 2015 changes - 12/30/14
Per your website 3 man $999.00
5 man $1100.00
200 denier weight Dyneema
Posted By: whambasted Re: 2015 changes - 12/30/14
there is no dyneema option anywhere else. dyneema runs about 25.00 dollars a yard and is much stronger than 70 denier ripstop. it is not a cheap tent.
Posted By: whambasted Re: 2015 changes - 12/30/14
similar tent 3 man is 455.00 shipped
5 man is 565.00 shipped
Posted By: MontanaCreekHunter Re: 2015 changes - 12/30/14
Honestly warranties don't mean a whole lot to me seeing you or anyone else for that matter can be out of business tomorrow. Now if you have a better mouse trap that is a different story.

What is the footprint of your 5 man and how tall is it?
Posted By: whambasted Re: 2015 changes - 12/30/14
similar as in regular ripstop/silicone nylon... not dyneema. dyneema is a different fabric

Thank you very much! That means a lot to me!

the 550 cord seams will support snow loads that other tents won't.

Will say this in Whmblsts defense. Bought one of his 5 man tents years ago. Best out door gear purchase in a long time, excellent attention to detail, great quality and price. Would not hesitate a second to buy another from him.

we can add a full velcro strip around the bottom edge of the tipi or tipi's sidewall for the adding, removing or interchanging of full floors, half floors and sod strips/cloths....Full floors have a zippered opening for the stoves so that they will not be damaged by hot embers. this is a custom option that does not come standard. Please ask us for all details and prices. Having a floor makes setup of the tipi much easier and floors are completely waterproof.

Yes Sean he is

Whambastid, could you give some details on. Your bino carrier please
Posted By: whambasted Re: 2015 changes - 02/21/15
you send me a trace of your binos and i build the bino bag to fit with any extra pockets or loops that you want. i have a ton of camo to choose from as well as solid colors. 500 or 1000 d. cordura with waterproof ykk zippers. the loops hook onto carabiners that hook to loops that i sew onto your jacket, coat or vest or onto your backpack shoulder straps. easy to carry and take off without removing your backpack.

I'm liking your rectangle camp stove and its ease of setup. Looks like 15 seconds, if that. This coming from a Kifaru stove guy.

Which stove do you guys recommend for an 8 man Kifaru tipi in 20-30 F degree temps? Rectangle or triangle?

definitely the box stove... the new ones can be loaded from either end for easier night time burning...you don't have to wake your other to load it or get out of your fartsack.
Posted By: 379 Peterbilt Re: 2015 changes - 02/21/15
I see an option for a false bottom tray for the stove but I don't see a picture of it on your website, unless I missed it. Might you have one of the tray?

Could you do a flap to cover the Binos. Maybe with magnetic closure... Case sounds very cool.

One problem i have with current "harnesses" is that the elastic straps are weak from the get go and lose their elasticity and stay stretched out very quickly

since some of you here are so nice to me and i love sharing stuff, i will let you in on a new trick of mine for a light and very strong carbon center pole that you can make at home....

take all of your old discarded carbon arrow shafts and build a long pole out of them in a bundle.... stagger them and bundle 4-6 in a tight bunch. wrap them up with black tape and cut them to length for packing. joiners are easy to improvise... i gave you the jist now figure the rest out yourselves.... you're very welcome.
