Looking for a glassing jacket. Something compact and stuffable.

A good value for the performance would also be great

Color isn't a concern

I got a Dockers puffer jacket, $40 on the Internet. Works great, lightweight, stuffable, warm. BTW if you put it in the right size stuff sack, it makes a good pillow.

Mountain Hardwear still makes some good ones. If you can find them on sale, you can get some good deals.
There are some close out First Lite puffy jackets available on several sites right now. I found one a few months back for $99ish to replace my old REI puffy.
I currently run puffer from Goodwill, bought for $3 or so. It is costco brand. Entry-level quality, but cannot beat the value. It works like gangbusters.

If I hiked or did much wearing the puffer, it would not last long as it is lightweight nylon. But like you, I only wear it to glass or throw it on for a bit before hiking out in the am. Or wear it to sleep.

I thought puffers were a fad until I tried this. Now I find it essential.
Jeff-
If your is like the one I got from Costco, it's down?

It seems to me to be more in the 'down sweater' category kind of opposite end of Patagucci DAS.

Good, light warm, and very compressible.
Yeah, it is down. Not the best quality down, but down. Compresses to almost nothing.

I didn't appreciate until this how much warmer per unit of volume they are than fleece.

I'll show it to you in a couple days if you want! It is plain Jane. Of course, a Goodwill in AK would probably not receive a down puffer. Here in the big city, we get all kinds of crap there.

But yeah, Kirkland.

The one I have is 90% goose down and 800 fill weight. Pretty good for the price.
