The BLM & Forest Svc have just implemented fire bans on all public land in so. Idaho. So far it's just for campfires and smoking. Camp stoves, other than charcoal or wood, are ok for now. In 2 weeks I'm taking a group of boy scouts on a llama pack trip. Hopefully they won't ban stoves before then. I'd hate to have a cold camp. Life isn't possible without a morning cup of hot coffee.

I've never heard of a ban on sensible gas or propane stoves.

We've at times have had some limitations on camp fires and travel over remote roads (like those 2-tracks supporting vegetation), but folks seem to ignore the travel stuff when a hunting season rolls in.

Pronghorn starts for us in about 8 days, and we're under fire restrictions too.

If out in serious stands of fine fuels, however, it's always good to discuss some wild fire plans with ones troops(escape routes, locations that can't burn, or creating a burn out and sheltering therein).

Where we're going, there's a large meadow. It's high elevation and the snow usually isn't off until July. It's usually pretty green this time of year but dry enough so there aren't any mosquitoes. It's where I picket my llamas, lots of good feed.
