I can’t imagine a scenario where someone would have one laying around, but I have a gen1 Shield with a busted frame and need to find a replacement. Any ideas? Smith was no help.

Ride their ass until they fix it or replace it. 'How it got busted' is none of my concern but it will probably affect what you pay for the repair.

Alternatively, I'd destroy the frame and sell off the unregulated parts.
You might find one on gunbroker.com.
Thanks—do y’all know if a gen1 slide/barrel will work with gen2 and/or a Shield Plus?
I would check the regs before destroying the frame. It seems like I remember that it’s against the law
On a full size M&P G1 I put a G2 slide on while messing around and it worked fine.

How would that ever be enforced?
There are a lot of laws and regulations that aren’t enforced. 😊
Not against the law.

Let’s try this: can the internals from a shield 1 be installed in a 2.0 or a shield plus?

I know the mag release on a plus is different, but don’t know about trigger, sear assembly, etc.
There’s got to be a M&P expert out there….
Am I looking for something that doesn’t exist?
A side question on the Shield Plus... Is the new Shield non-jointed flat trigger interchangeable with the M&P 2.0 Compact trigger?
No idea. check Apex and see if they have different triggers for those models

They don’t have to do sh*t on repair or replacement (which is impossible) of discontinued product.

Product Discontinuation Notice

Dear Valued Customer,

This letter serves as formal notification that Smith & Wesson will discontinue the products below as of April 1, 2021.

Smith & Wesson to Discontinue Shield 1.0 Models Effective Immediately

The original M&P Shield pistol platform was introduced in 2012 and has since become one of the best selling concealed carry pistol lines on the market. To meet customer wants and needs, we have continued to adapt and evolve the M&P Shield product line with offerings such as the M&P Shield M2.0, M&P Shield EZ, and now the new M&P Shield Plus. To focus on meeting the tremendous demand for the new M&P Shield Plus, we will be discontinuing the original M&P Shield pistol SKUs to allow for additional production of current M&P Shield offerings.

For our California-only dealers, we will continue to offer the following CA-compliant M&P Shield SKUs until further notice: 187021, 11905, 187020, and 11906.

All existing orders will be cancelled.

We appreciate and value our business relationship and look forward to your continued support of our brands and products. Please contact your sales representative if you have additional questions.

Sincerely,

Sue Cupero

Vice President, Sales

Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc.
The guy has nothing to loose by being politely persistent.

I know for a fact S&W can and has replaced busted SW9 and SW380 pistols (known for frames cracking at pin holes) with SW9VEs. You get ship them a broke pistol and get back a pistol that works. A pistol that works trades or sells better than one that don't.

For the most part. The frame is considered the "firearm". You can find stripped Glock frames because there are aftermarket frames that people swap them out for. I'm not aware of anyone offering aftermarket Shield frames, so finding a stripped one would be extremely rare.

They are continuing to supply them for the CA market, so they should be able to replace the frame.
Let me know if y’all see one pop up somewhere!

You aren't going to find one. Did you try to send your gun into S&W for repair or did you ask them to sell you a frame through the mail?
Sent gun to Smith, they offered a slight discount off MSRP for a new one. I’ve found frames for shield plus, 2.0, and full size M&P. Looking for a Gen 1 Shield.

Isn't the frame the serialized part? I know it is on my full size M&P. If so, I can't imagine you finding one.

Send it to S&W.
To summarize:

It’s been to S&W already.

Yes the frame is the firearm by legal definition. Firearms can be found and sold on the internet, and often are.

I’ve found a handful of M&P frames for sale online, just not the model I need.

If anyone finds a lead on an M&P Shield gen1 frame for sale, please let me know!

Interesting. Did S&W say why they would not help?

S&W advertises a "life time" warranty.

He said they offered him a discount on a new gun. He's never said how his frame "broke" but I can't imagine how. I think they were just trying to be nice.
Hmm

You know - S&W has updated the Shield to the Shield Plus with a 13 round capacity. It might be worth his while to take S&W's offer and ask for an upgrade.

Finding a frame might prove to be problematic. The frame is serialized and is an FFL item.

I would suggest that he take the discount and be thankful that all is not lost. The release of the Shield Plus is a meaningful improvement over the original Shield.
Update:
Bought a gen2 frame, installed parts today. Don’t have any mags yet and no test fire yet either.

Parts all went together fine. Seems like it’ll work. Will update once I get a chance to get to the range.
