I am in the market for a 22 pistol for informal target shooting, and am considering the Kimber Rimfire Super, the S&W model 41,and the Beretta 87 Target.Which of the three do you prefer and why?
I like my S&W 41. The grip has the right angle and it shoots itty bitty groups.

Buy the S&W 41, the other two are not even close.
My personal pick is not on your list. Find an original Hamden Conn. High Standard Supermatic Trophy. Not the later hartford guns, typical loss of quality by saving money in production stuff and nowhere near as good but still nice, or god forbid, a horrible texas gun. Other than that, the oldest S&W 41 you can afford.
I guess it's all dependent upon how informal your target shooting is. The S&W and Beretta are both bullseye quality competition pistols. Kimber advertises 1.5" at 25 yards which is plenty accurate for 99% of any shooting anyone's likely to do. If you plan on taking it a little further with bullseye competition, then the S&W or Beretta are the tools for you.
Don't know anything about the Beretta, but have had a few 41's and still own one, and they are very nice. Had a Kimber and will say that it was picky about ammo. Jammed too much. Kimber said to stick with CCI mini mags. I did and jams went away, but don't plan on using cheap ammo in it. 41 so far will digest everyhing.

Well I couldn't find a model 41 in Canada, but I located a Kimber Rimfire Super at a local dealer,so my decision was easy. The gun has been purchased, the permits are approved, and I am waiting for the paperwork to arrive.I should have the gun in a week or two.If I am disappointed in the accuracy,I will order a model 41.
