Any experience with HS-6 in the .44 spl? I have a chance to buy some...was after Unique but the only dealer in our town is getting low on powder and is out of Unique. I am looking for 850 fps. Is HS-6 clean burning? That might be an advantage, even over the newer Unique. Is it temperature sensitive? Should a magnum primer be used? Any experience with this powder would be appreciated...I have never used it, nor do I know anyone who has.
I use it in my 45 ACP, 6gr gives 800+ fps 230 cast Lee.
Run 100s thru my 1911 with no special care.
Std primer works fine.

Hodgdon website says 8 gr (max) in 44 Special w/240 cast SWC
gives 917 FPS.

Meters better than Unique.

I use it some. Brain Pearce of Handloader mag uses it all the time. There are many powders in the same burning range, that all work about equally well.....
