Why would you pick one over the other?

Seriously, for someone with experience with both, I ask that you would compare and contrast the two.

Thanks,

Landrum
Get the .500 JRH in the BFR revolver. It is amazing. You need nothing more for anything on earth.
Here is a 50 yard group made while working loads and it has done 1/2" at 100 yards.

Is the 500 JRH going to be a regular option in the BFR or is it only from their custom shop?

The 500 JRH is going to be offered in the over the counter madel as well as the Custom Shop

Do any of y'all have a picture of a loaded 500 JRH next to a 500 Linebaugh?

Landrum, I will take a picture later on for you. The .500 Linebaugh is a really fat case. Actually, I may have a photo in my archives. Standby.....
I have both -- a custom Ruger SRH in .500 Linebaugh, and a BFR in .500 JRH. Love both calibers, but have to say that I am dumbfounded by the accuracy we are getting with the JRH. Here is a photo of a group I shot at 50 yards and I am not particularly good at shooting groups:

Here is a group photo of some .50 cals. From left to right, .50 AE, .500 JRH, .500 Linebaugh, and .500 Smith and Wesson.

The .500 JRH is indeed a production caliber on the BFR line now.

Are the dimensions the same as the 500 S&W besides the length?
The rim is smaller as well. It was designed originally to fit in a Freedom 83.

I guess my question is: If both were offered in the BFR, for example, which would you prefer?

500JRH, alarger selection and less expensive bullets in .500 VS.510 diameter

Most definitely the .500 JRH......jwp is correct in that there are a lot more bullets avaiable in .500 caliber.
