Look at Gunblast.com for some great reviews.
I asked the same question here a few weeks ago but have not bought yet.
Kahr pm9 comes to mind as what many here said is a great pocket pistol.
I've had a KelTec PF 9, for about 4 weeks. It's light, thin, not expensive. Bout $250.00. It failed to extract twice out of about 200 rounds of mixed ammo. Needs more shooting and perhaps a tweek on the extractor. I like the trigger, headshots at 15 yards are do-able. It is not fun to shoot. Considering the price I'm happy with it so far.
+1 on the PF-9 if you are stuck on 9mm. For a truly pocket sized gun though, the little 380's are pretty cool and much smaller like the Kel Tech P3AT or Ruger LCP. For a 9mm, hard to do better than the Kel Tech PF-9. I carried one for quite a long time. Best 9mm I had ever had, and I have had a few.
I own a PM9 and a Khar 380, zero issues with them after the factory-prescribed 200rd break-in period. I think I'm set for life in the pocket pistol department.
Diamondback db9 is the smallest thinest 9mm made. Mine took less than a 100 rounds to break in and has been flawless ever since. Great sights and trigger. I hit a steel javalina at 100 yards at the sierra vista shindig the other day. Mostly luck. I do love this gun, fits in your back pocket with just a hankie to break up the outline. Basically they're a single stack small version of a glock.

I just bought a Ruger LC9 9mm and really like it. I've had about 150 rounds through it with no problems. The Bianchi ATB holster size 10A an Michaels ankle holser size 12 fit perfectly. The action is almost a true revolver-like double action, much longer than a striker-fired action. Judging from some internet videos, some people don't like the action, but I belive it's mostly because fewer and fewer people have carried J frame DA revolvers.
Reread your op so want to add that the trigger is the best i've felt on a pocket pistol. It's striker fired so no heavy double action pull. I owned a amt 380 that had about a 14 pound pull and there was no way to shoot it accurately.
I bought my diamondback at sportsmans warehouse for 339 and that is a good deal as they retail for 4 bills.

I have been carrying this little Beretta 9000D for a few years now. 12 round capacity, DAO, and comfortable in a front pocket.
Put me down as another vote for the Kahr PM9. It is hands-down the best pocket pistol I've found yet, and I've tried about two dozen of 'em over the years. Alternatively, you could buy the Ruger LC9. I've never carried one but I've shot one a fair bit and they are decent pistols.
Love my SW Bodyguard 380... everything about it.
+1 on the S&W Bodyguard 380. Over 700 rounds through mine now. It's a stout little pistol, both accurate and dependable. I keep it in a De Santis Nemesis pocket holster and it disappears into my right front jeans pocket.
Bodyguard 380. Great little pistol that's easy to carry and the recoil is nothing. Comes with a laser too.
Seecamp. In an Uncle Mike's pocket holster.
