The SF is cut higher under the beavertail (which moves the web of your shooting hand closer to the centerline of the bore), the back strap has a less pronounced arch and tucks in tighter to the magazine well at the base of the grip. Shorter well and truly is an apt description.
There's too many complex curves on both the back strap and front strap for a Joe Sixpack measurement to be repeatable and/or meaningful. I'd say the SF is about midway between the standard 20 and the .40S&W or .45GAP models, like the G22 or G37. It's still a big gun but doesn't feel as unwieldy as the un-short G20.
