Just got a new pistol, new on the market. Don't want to name the gun because I will assume for now it could be my reloads. Anyway, I had about 6 rounds out of 100 that misfired. Firing pin hit but no bang. After cleaning the gun thoroughly 3 of the 4 I tried went bang. Brass was new Starline, powder was TiteGroup, WLP primers, all loaded on a Dillon press. I never had a misfire with these same loads in my 1911's. This is a striker fired pistol with a rectangular firing pin. Cases seem OK in the case gauge. Ideas?? Where to start?? I would try them in another pistol but I'm currently waiting on my Baer to come in and I'm 1911 naked at the moment.

Have you tried it with factory ammo? If not, I'd say give that a go first, preferably in a couple different loads.

Have not yet, but I was planning on it. Something else that was odd is one of the loads was 230XTP, and I had to seat them deeper to chamber in this gun. Again, they ran in my other guns and fit in the case gauge fine, but would not chamber in this one.

Trade it for a 10 mm.
Just kiddin
I've had a rash of Large pistol primers fail on me.

Were you getting good indentations on the primers or were they hardly showing anything? If it is a gun that will fire slightly out of battery, you could be getting very light dents on the primers because the gun is not locked up. That could be the stiffness of a new gun or it could be something like long brass, not enough of a taper crimp, bullet profile, tight chamber, light load, limp wrist, etc. Or, there could be gunk in the firing pin channel.

I would shoot full strength factory ammo in it first, then duplicate those loads if they work. Then change variables from there. I went through that recently with a couple of new Glocks. It took a while to figure out what they like, and the dual recoil springs needed to loosen up a bit. I didn't experience any light strikes, though.

I'd be more than a little concerned about pressure.

for what it is worth before i went to far, i would check the primer to see if it ignited after pulling the bullet and powder.
I got into a batch of winchester lp primers a few years ago, that some would not ignite, and some were to large for the primer pocket, they wouldn't seat.
I think every manufacturer of anything at times as quality control issues.

Borrowing a buddy's XD tomorrow to see if they light off in his gun. I also bought 70 round of factory ammo today and going to run them through the gun and see if there are any issues.

If it's a Diamondback 9mm send it back. There was a problem with the machining of the hole in the slide for the firing pin. My barber had one and it did it. He sent it back and the company fixed it.

All I can seem to narrow it down to is a bad lot of primers? Borrowed a buddy's XD and got some misfired with it also. Gun runs the factory ammo just fine.

Been having issues with a batch of WSP primers and have had about 4 WLR fail to fire lately. The WSP's have almost become annoying in their failure to ignite.
