Can you put a commander slide on a full size frame? I'm probably gonna guess that you can't but I don't know.

You can, but the dust cover of the frame will stick out where it meets the relief cut in the slide where the spring plug goes. It doesn�t really affect any of the function of the gun, just looks like hell. You can cut the extra length off the Government frame to make it a Commander frame, but you won�t be able to use it as a Government model again.

Thanks for the input. I'll just save for a complete gun vs being a cheap ass.

You can buy a Commander sized frame & use the parts from the full sized frame in it................
