This is my powder of choice for bringing the 10mm back up to its original Dorneaus and Dixon/Norma levels. I will be interested to see what kinds of numbers you get in the slightly shorter case. I stopped adding gunpowder when I got to the original velocites that made the 10mm what it was, felt like I could have gone higher but saw no need to and I did not want to risk damage to my Delta Elite. Do keep us informed.

11 gr #9 win small mag. pistol primer = 1015fps with 180 gold dots and great accuracy , I was a bit worried about muzzle flash and blast with a powder the slow burning , but it seemed mildier than other stuff I had tried at this velocity range(power pistol) and no worse than my target loads (5gr 231 920fps with 180 lead ) now I wonder about H-110 ? This was all in a sig 229

It's been a long time since I loaded any .40 S+W. Back then I ran mostly AA5 or AA7.

I'm curious about how Hogdon's Longshot would perform from the same gun. Hogdon's online data lists a max charge of Longshot, 8.0grs, behind a 180 XTP at 1,159 FPS.

Sounds about right. In my 5 inch Colt Delta Elite 14.6gr of AA#9 and that same bullet yield 1375. Going up to 14.8 and15.0 did not give me any more velocity so I figured the 14.6 load to be the sweetspot for that gun and bullet. Accurate, too.

My Loadbook with AA pressure tested data shows 11 grs. of AA#9 at 994 fps. in their 4 inch HS Precison test barrel. It generates 32,100 psi with the Speer 180 gr. GD bullet. Maximum pressure is 35,000 psi. E

My 2006 catalog lists 11.0 at 35,000 for 1019 fps.

I load my .40 and .357 SIG with Longshot. Loads are shown in the Hogdgon catalog. For the 180 gr. bullet they list a starting load of 6.5 gr. of Longshot for 1009 fps at 25,000 psi and 8.0 gr. for 1159 fps at 32,300 psi. I find the 6.5 gr. load works fine for me.

No, it doesn't.
Change the bullet to the Hornady 180 gr. XTP and the velocity rises to 1019 fps and the pressure goes up to 35,000 psi. E
