just placed an order with Buds Gunshop for a S&W Pro .40 .... Factory milled to accept Trijicon (or some other) red dot .... I had to join their VIP club to earn the "privilege" of being able to buy it at almost full retail..... But I have been looking for one for several Months now.....

They also had the mini Trijicon red dots in stock..... I was pleased that the guy I ordered from went to the trouble of researching and then called me back to let me know that I did not need the model with adaptor plater for the CORE system and that they had just the mini red dot in stock for 100.00 less....

Maybe I'm be glad I had to spend 25 buck to join the VIP club after all....

I don't know if this set up will ever make in into CC rotation or not.... I am picking it up mostly so I can shoot cast bullets and and use it as a field/target fun gun.....

I'll post a review after I get a chance to shoot it some.....
So with the CORE, you can put a sight like the DeltaPoint on without any other schit right? And still run the irons?

Congrats on the purchase. I'm digging your choice.

Travis
Thanks IIRC Smith lists 6 red dots that fit it with no adaptor.... The Trijicon ruggedized miniature red dot is often called the best one so I'll see.... The main selling point with the CORE system is that when the sight is mounted down into the slide they do cowitness with the raised iron sights.....

If I don't end up liking it I have a S&W .45 Colt Mountain with an Ultra Dot on it.... No luck finding a holster I like for that set up yet so the Trijicon might find a new home on it....
Oh hell dude, somebody will make you a holster.

That CORE sounds awesome and I may have to get pro-active on finding one. I didn't even know they existed until seeing this.

Got any pics of that Mountain Gun?

Travis
Is it an absolute co-witness or a lower 1/3 type set up?
The M&P C.O.R.E will fully cowitness with most mini red dots due to its use of suppressor height sights. My buddy has one (with can) in .40 and its a blast to shoot.
I'll just keep my wrist rocket and marbles... whistle

This schist is happening...

Sorry no picture of the Mountain Gun handy but here is a link to the Ultra dot 30 MM ....

http://www.ultradotwest.com/ultradot_2008_004.htm

I have a fanny pack that is wide enough to hold it and just discovered that Safepacker in making a larger size now that will hold 4" N Frames.... Pretty sure it will be wide enough to hold the Mountain Gun with the Ultra Dot on it....

Love the 30 MM tube.... For a hunting gun it is plenty fast to find the dot.... I have 2 molds that cast the 270 SAA bullet.... One is a custom mold made from brass with the option to cast HP bullets with relative ease.... The guy that makes the custom molds is in Slovenia.... When they show up the box is full of wadded up newspapers written in Russian....

This guy has a cult like following over on the cast bullet forum... I'll see if I can find a link.... I also picked up a custom 10 MM HP mold from him.... It casts 200 grain slugs.... I have not tried that mold yet.... It was designed as the "perfect" 10 MM hunting bullet.... I found some load data for 200 grain lead bullets in .40 S&W too and will give it a try as well...

I have had mixed results with Lee molds but the .40 170 6 cavity Lee mold I have is a sweetheart.... Easy to get good bullets in a hurry with it.... My 10 MM Glock with a KKM barrel loves them....

I have what should be a life time supply of wheel weight ingots out in the garage.... Looking foward to finding the correct loads and then putting the Dillion into over drivegrin

Bad ass. Have you looked at the Runner's Kit Bag?

Travis
I have seen that bag.... Looks like a handy design.... Speaking of design.... Here is the bas ass mold.... Use it in the .45 Colt MG and a 625 with auto rimmed brass..... Have not had a chance to try either revolver on deer yet but I can tell you this bullet in either gun slap steel down at a whole other level than .45 acp loads will....

I give you.... Mold porn

This is the 3rd MiHec mold I have.... Have only cast a few with it but it runs in 1911s as well as the .45 revolvers.... I need to find a ground hog for some 200 grain HP testing...

This is one shop that will mill slides.... I was about ready to send in a Glock 23 before I finally found a factory ready gun...

I like the M&P's more better anyway.

Your purchase has me shifting gears. Good job.

I am a member of the cult having a number of his moulds. First rate. I just got through castin the 10mm bullet a few weeks ago and loading them up, but haven't fired them yet. I got the pins so I can make a solid, a traditional hollowpoint, and the indented style hollowpoint which i think i like best. I added a little leadfree solder to the wheelweight mixture to make them a little harder, really nice bullets. Eventually i will put them in .40 short and weak too.
I'm kind hoping that S&W brings out the M&P 45 full size (or longer barrel) with the CORE set up. We'll see!

Jerry
Given a choice think I would have gone with a .45 too..... Wish me luck guys.... I put the .40 200 grain 4 cavity with all the pins away ..... Somewhere.... Been tearing the house apart looking for it..... Good Lord I hate loosing track of stuff.... About ready to sign up for the third group buy for the same mold..... I almost always find stuff soon after I order a replacementmad

Check out Cast Bullet Forums.... The glowing reports on MiHec brass molds are true.... But they are slow to get.... You put your name on a "yes I want to buy this mold" list and then when they finally get done, you get an email from the guy over in Slovenia asking for payment through Paypal....

I have a Lee 6 cavity 170 grain .40 mold that works well.... Glad to have it because .40 bullets seem to be backordered about every where..... Never seen a shortage of ammo/components this.....

Starline will have .40 brass ready to ship by 5/31..... I have an order in for 1000 of them.....
SWEET the Trijicon RMR just got here..... Tested it in a dark closet and out in full midday sun.... Perfect levels of brightness.... The dot appears clear and sharp.... I have read some complains about blurry looking dots on less expensive brands....

I have a few boxes of factory fmj practice ammo on hand.... Planning to put a big tarp beside a shooting position.... Do not want to loose any brass.... Waiting on a call from my local FFL now..... Got that full on kid at Christmas feeling going on....

Did you get the Long slide or standard slide

This is a S&W performance Center gun, there was a side article on these in shooting magazine, April edition I think

I ordered the 4.25 inch barrel.... Tracking number says it gets here Monday.... Took the Trijicon out for a stroll last night.... It really cuts itself back on a dark night.... I recently picked up a Surefire Ultra 500 lumen weapon light.... Thinking it is going to be a bad time to be a coyote around my property this year....

Hoping to like the Pro version of the trigger.... If not I will be ordering Apex parts... Bar Sto is starting to make barrels for the M&P Smiths.... Hope to be happy with the accuracy of the factory barrel.... Glad I can fool with cast bullets in it without concern.... If it does not shoot Bar Sto is talking about 1 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards with their gunsmith fitted barrels.... A set of them in 9mm .40 and .357 Sig would be something special even in a plastic gun....

its a shame you got to replace trigger, barrel, sights on a pistol to get a decent one these days. whistle
2ndwind....

If you're hard up for .40 brass I'm sure I've got a few hundred around here (once fired) that I can send you if you'll cover shipping. Just lemme know.
Thank you.... While digging for the custom .40 mold.... The one I waited 6 Months to get.... And then put away.... Somewhere.... I did find a few hundred rounds of factory practice ammo.... I'm on Starlines pre ordered list for .40 brass due to ship 5/31 so I should be good....

If something happens and Starline can't fill the order then.... I'll send you a PM for sure...

It must be great for a manufacturer to know they have the majority of a production run sold before them make it..... I can also understand why ammunition component makers would hold back from investing in large scale expansion.... Who knows what the market will be in 5 years.... Homeland Security maybe the only" legal" buyer.....
