I have owned, might still???, a couple of Ruger OM convertibles and have never used the ACP cylinders. Same for my Buckeye 38WCF/10mm, having never used the 10mm cylinder. This POS Ruger P345 is my favorite semi-auto. The 1911's sit rather idle now. Number two is my Smith 25-2.

Absolutely. That is all drop in parts, no machining, to keep the gun original. The original hammer is a hand biting SOB and I couldn't get away from bleeding every time I shot it, so I got that set up and shoot all day, no bleeding...

I'm an old 1911 guy from way back, but my Glock 30 is the easiest carrying, most reliable and versatile 45 ACP I've ever carried. It don't shoot bad at 25 yards, either.

I think I've only owned two .45 acps, a Star Firestar in "Starvel" finish, which I sold years ago, although it worked great, and my current Taurus 1911 with the aluminum frame.

I could live without the serrations on the front of the slide, but I can't complain about it either. It's worked pretty much flawlessly for around 2,000 rounds now.

She is into shooting.......I taught her to shoot and bought her a Ruger SR22 a couple years back.

She doesn't mind the the time I spend doing such pursuits.

She wants to learn how to shoot sporting clays, so her wedding gift from me is going to be a little 20 ga. O/U that has smaller stock dimensions for a better fit. I ordered a leather/canvas takedown case for it and I have to go pick it up Tuesday.

Think I'll wait until after the honeymoon to give her the shotgun....LOL

I recently acquired (and dehorned) a used Gen 3 Model 30 from Summit Gun Broker. It was essentially new with no firing wear at all. It grouped about 2 1/2&#8243; at 25 yards with Tula 230 FMJ and it grouped three, 230 Golden Sabers in just under an inch and a half at that distance, from �lawn chair rest�.

As an old builder of accurate 1911's, I wouldn't call the 30 'match accurate' in the Bullseye sense; but I've wrung this one out at everything from spitting distance to rifle distance and it's got more than enough accuracy for any combat match or carry gun- GlockTalk

These two. I had night sights and the trigger lightened on the Kimber. It's my EDC gun, I replace the recoil spring about every 3000 rounds and it just keeps on running smooth.
The Willson is the gun I shoot every week in a local clubs bowling pin match. It has over 20,000 rounds through it and besides cleaning, I change the recoil spring and buffer now and then,and that's it.

At the moment 45 acp's are pretty scarce at the homestead. The Ruger P-90 is mine and shoots better than it ought to, the 45 Bisley convertable is my wife's and I finally got her to shoot the new out of it.



I'm thinking with a trigger job and some load work it will be an outstanding gun.

I've made the change on almost every 1911 that I've ever owned if I plan to shoot it much (and have to clean it).

Ease of disassembly is the reason for the change; has nothing to do with how it shoots & I've never seen even a smidgen of difference.

At no time in the last 60 years since gunsmith school have I been without at least 2 45acp's. Usually custom 1911's. Currently my favorite is the small 2 1/2" revolver they no longer make. They still make the same style but it has a steel cylinder,mine is Titanium. It has the best quick acquisition sights I have ever had on a handgun. I also have the same basic gun in a 10mm. My other two are a Kinber Eclipse Pro and a Rock Island Armory(which I consider to be the best buy in a 1911 today). With hardball the revolver is by far the most accurate out-of-the-box revolver I have ever had. A pleasure to shoot and carry.

Exactly this. Swap out had nothing to do with shooting, and everything to do with not needing to have an allen wrench to break it down and field strip it.

It shoots no better and no worse, either way.

I use this one for NRA bullseye...25yd shortcourse. A fine shooter and very competitive, with some tweaking from the Colt Custom Shop. A Gold Cup doing what it was designed to do.

I feel the same,just have to ask when I see a swap out. I've stuck with the original GI for 40 years. Don't care for the one piece at all...

Actually the SA 2-pc rod that requires the allen wrench is one of the easier ones on the fingers to take apart, other than the need for having the allen wrench available.

The solid one piece rod like the Kimbers are a real PIA as the open spring plug is just hard on the fingers, even if you use a bushing wrench.

Just not necessary..........but lots of people seem to believe that the one piece guide rod bring something to the party.

STI Ranger II. I have had them all in this price range. As far as fit, finish, and accuracy. This one will dance with the best of those.
Maybe its because the company is owned by the men that build them. Nothing inspires QC like a direct link to your wallet.

This is another nice one...favorite? Not yet, but it could be.

When I began my law enforcement career we had two of those in the armory. They were not authorized for carry being leftovers from the 1950s. The chief did let us take them to the range. One worked great. The other had many failures to feed.

The one that worked was an absolute blast to shoot.
