I was a firm believer in the .357 Sig before, but every time I get the chance to shoot into/from vehicles it reaffirms that trust.
Yes. I (figuratively) stomped my feet and (literally) bitched when I was advised we were transitioning from the .45. Then I spent some time with it.....
I love my .45s, but prefer my 229 for duty use due to the advantages the .357 offers.
George
Does that mannequin have boobs?
Laffin'......just massive pecs. Pretty sure it was a dude. I know he wasn't happy by the end of the exercise.
I bought a Sig in .357 Sig back in the 1990s, but sold it a couple years later. While I had it, I carried it quite a bit. It was the single stack model. Can't recall the model number.
Are there any down sides to the .357 Sig? E.g., excess blast/flash?
There's no free lunch......
More recoil than the 9mm/.40, obviously. I've shot the Sig side-by-side with my 1911 (230 gr. Rangers IIRC), a .40 with generic target loads, and my 9mm (Black Talons) on the indoor range with the lights off. Maybe I'm the exception, but my eyes can't tell the difference.

Interesting. Could be a win win.

OK. But since I've stared at them this long already I'm gonna stick with the theory that it's a chick, just cuz.
And it looks like a good day. Did you do any shooting out of the car?
Into, at and from. It was an eye-opener for some in regards to accessing equipment, shooting positions and what bullets actually so when they hit a windshield, door, etc.
The passenger seat was empty, no MDT, etc. so unassing the opposite side wasn't entirely realistic. They opened up the armory at the end of the day and that red car took a beating..22 up through .338 lapua.
I don't think I stopped grinning all day.
Did you guys try some bonded .223 or .308 through the auto glass?
Sadly, no!
By the time the rifles came out there wasn't a window left to shoot.
Give me some time, I have a newly discovered pit and I believe the target selection is going to be very liberal. Just have to talk to the scrap yard....
What little we have done, the bonded bullets showed a definite edge and kept a straight flight path...the old 168 Gr Sierra BTHP was dismal....
The new nosher 60 grain bonded in the .223 and a Swift A-Frame in the .308...
George, I haven't noticed any more muzzle flash ith the 357 Sig over the 45
My scores went up on average when we switched, but That may be due to the smaller grip on the G-31 over the G21.
I'm still getting used to the P226, but my first qual score was 288/300
I'm 295 and up with the Glock.
Over all i'm pretty happy with the Sig

I'd beg to differ IMO the sig "kicks" less than a .40 atleast with 165-180 compard to 120-124
I'm certainly not going to tell someone else that their perception is wrong.....you feel what you feel. I can only base my opinion on my 229, shooting with both the .357 and .40 barrels. The .357 seems "snappier" (how's that for technical/scientific!) than the .40.
Bottom line, for me at least, is that neither is harsh so it's not an issue on the range/street.

Whoa... what a difference a white shirt makes.
I'm going to channel 'flave...._GFY.
No white shirt in my closet......My shirts and ties might, possibly, be seeing more action.
That bottleneck case might feed more reliably, too.

Taking a job in Internal Affairs?

I've heard this as well. Makes sense.
Do you think if Darren Wilsons P229 was a 357 Sig instead of a 40SW it would have taken less than 8 rounds? Wouldn't you rather have a 220 45ACP?
HOLY CRAP BATMAN!!!!
I'm glad you said it was a training exercise.
Damn George, what a hoot. Not a bad day at work.
Dammit! Now I'm thinking of getting a 357 SIG barrel for my 40 cal Browning!
