What if...

Say Starline and Ruger or S&W came out with a 9r round, that is a rimmed 9x19 round and various handguns chambered for it?

I think a single action Ruger and a double action Smith or Ruger sure would fit nicely in the safe.

Definitely a little birdshead single action...

I though there was once upon a time. I did see a Ruger 9mm revolver last year in gun shop, it was sp 101 size. The searched a long time for it, I think he wanted over 900 bucks for it.

S&W is selling 8 shot N frames in .38 Super.

9mm Federal....they were chambered in Charter Arms revolvers.

Numrich has or had 9mm cylinders for SP 101s.

I personally see no need for a shorter cased 38 special and don't see what it would offer that the special don't already.

Wasn't it S&W that made a 9mm revolver in the 80's? Model 547 perhaps? The extractor was made up of retractable fingers that extended into the cartridge's extractor groove when the extractor rod was pushed. Think of a bottle brush being pulled or pushed into or out of a tube that is smaller in diameter than the brush.

The 9mm Federal (rimmed) was a novel and useful idea but too many folks were blowing up old .38 S&W revolvers (which would chamber the round) so that puppy had to be withdrawn for liability reasons.

Rimmed 9x19... Try the .38 short colt.

I was thinking that the size of the round and it's ballistics in a rimmed package would work well in double action revolvers without having to use moon clips.

There are loads for a 9mm round with AA7 that has very little flash that would be nice in a revolver for self defence.

And if S&W were smart, they would build some more 10mm Revolvers, as they would sell like hotcakes!

I always thought that a 5 shot 9mm Single Six would be the catz azz though.

In my mind, a revolver made to chamber a 9mm rimmed cartridge would make a lot more sense if the cylinder and frame dimensions were reduced to take advantage of the half inch shorter cartridge. Otherwise, the slight ballistic advantage over the .38 Special isn't really worth the effort.

A small snubby the size of the old Colt Bankers Special would be pretty neat chambered for a 9mm rimmed cartridge.

Sweet caliber. Almost as cool as the 450 Marlin that I let get away.

I'd get excited about a 9 in a 5-shot if they scaled the cylinder down. Sticking a 9mm in a 38 frame/cylinder just isn't that exciting.

My wife has a 9mm Taurus revolver. The 9 seems like a nice round in a snubby. We had several failures to fire DA. Bought new TC Custom moon clips but still couldn't make it reliable.
My wife now has a +P rated 642 and is happy.

Not 9 round wheel guns, but....Ruger has made the SP 101, Service, Security, and Speed-Sixs in 9MM. They currently make the LCR in 9MM.

Charter arms does sell a 9MM that does not require moon clips. It is a 6 shot 2.2 inch barrel and wt. is 22 oz. P.S. it also does the 40S&W.

Why would they sell like "hot cakes" ? I would not a 41 mag in a revolver over the 10mm

I'm with John. I can't think of a reason why I'd have a revolver as large as an N frame for a compact, smallish round. In the field the .41 is a much better performer. For defense, well I'd just pick something other than an N frame S&W.

This. I am currently buying the stuff to work on a mild 357 Mag load throwing the 110 gr TAC-XP at 1100 or so fps from my 3" SP-101 for concealed carry. No use for the barking full mag in this piece and I am looking for a bit more than 38 +P. Any suggestions?

A 9mm revolver......chosen over a good .38 or .357. A 10mm chosen over a .41 Magnum. Where do these ideas come from???
