Or used the pistol (STX) that they are hoping to sell to the military?

Seems like Detonics has always been better on innovation than on execution. They have had their attention getters. Wouldn't bother me for them to have their day in the sun...

Is their STX merely a variant of their MTX? Never heard of either til this week...
I went to the company headquarters a few months ago. They didn't have any samples to show, nor did they have a place where they could be viewed. They have a design, probably a few test subjects, and if they win the contract, they'll be getting someone else to manufacture. They are a "Design" and speculation firm only.

Back in the '80's the Detonics Scoremaster was one of the best 1911's out there. I had one that I competed with for a year. Shot the living crap out of it and it held up just fine, cast parts and all. I'll bet I put over 7k rounds through it that year, most 200 grain SWC major power factor loads. And MAN was that gun a shooter. It could hold it's own at a bullseye match.

The Combat Masters were generally pretty good, but I've encountered a few with some issues.
