Hi,
Trying to decide which one to pick for everyday carry in an IWB holster. Leaning toward the Springfield because of Colt's trouble but have a line on a NIB Colt at a good price. Pros/Cons of each?

Thanks!
The new Colt's have been good for me. I think the quality is up. What did you mean by "Colt's trouble"? I guess I missed that discussion.

Does the Champion LW Operator have a rail?? I'll have to check them out. How does the weight compare with the bull barrel (I suppose all the Champion's have the bull barrel with no bushing)?

SA for me. Sold this one to an esteemed member of the fire!

Why not Ruger new LW commander?
I have 2 Colts, and the Ruger and I would not hesitate to buy another, especially at the price point Ruger is at.
Colt for me...everyone else is an Impostor...

Also if Colt does one day fold think of the collector value...

Bob
Colt, because it's a Colt & it has a barrel bushing.

I don't want any non-bushing "1911's".......just not in my DNA.

Besides, the new(er) Colt's might be the best they've ever made.

But I don't agree that all other 1911's are impostors.......lots of stuff is at least fully equal to or better than Colt.

….the new Colt Wiley Clapp Commander is as good (quality wise) a 1911 as any production gun made. It is the best "out of the box" 1911 in terms of "carry-worthiness" that I've ever owned.
JMO-YMMV

This. Colt is building the best 1911s quality-wise since the 50's and early 60's.
Bob
I own Colts, Kimbers, Springfields, and Les Baers. For the price, I really don't think you can beat a new current production Springfield. And on that same price level, the new Ruger Commanders are very nice, too.

I've got both Colt and Springfield 1911's. For the same price, I'd get the Colt.

Thanks guys! just the info I needed.. Wasn't sure about the quality of the Colt's with their financial troubles and didn't want to get a pistol that would spend more time at the smith's instead of on my hip..

This by leaps and bounds.

The Wiley is a "Colt Custom Shop" production and it shoots like one. Unlike some other "custom Shop" types by other makes.
Got two of them.

Other than that OP, buy the Colt at that good price your talking about.
Get the Colt.

Nice piece hunts

Was he charging when you took him down?

Yeah. But he veered of at the last second, when I screamed like a little girl.....
I'll take the Colt's every day of the week. If I weren't buying a Colt, it would be a Dan Wesson, or a Smith & Wesson (I have the S&W, but I'd rather have the Colt's).
FYI,

I just went to Colt's web site to look up the LW Commander which was the XSE model, and the XSE's seem to be gone from their web site. Furthermore, I didn't find any LW Commanders on their web site. That really sucks because Colt's was pretty much the last company making a LW Commander in .38 Super, and I was kinda saving my pennies for one.

On their website look under Special Editions. You will see the Wiley or what they call it now the 21st Century Commander.

Not in .38 Super though.
Yeah I saw it was on their 2015 brochure, but I'm wondering why it's not on their web site anymore. And no doubt Colt is still making LW Commander special editions for various distributors. But I'm a bit unnerved that you don't see a LW Commander in .45 or Super on their web site menu; makes me wonder if it's because they intend to dump the LW Commander...Which would just be another in a long like of Colt's really bad decisions.

It is on their website. Pistols, Special Editions. They are distributed by others. They have been doing that for a while. They will not get rid of a LW. I know why you are nervous. Giving their history.

The LW Commander is at the top for CC . They do command high prices. They need to Bob one. It would sell like hot cakes.
Gibby - would the Colt Defender be considered a bobbed version? Seems like an interesting pistol..
I was thinking more of a Bobbed Grip frame like Hunt's.
I carry a full size 1911 pretty well. Commander even better, but in a rare moment when it digs in, it is usually the grip frame.

I am old school in believing that the Browning design works better with barrels 4" and longer. But that is just me. I have a couple of friends that carry and shoot the Defenders. They like them. Have not heard any complaints from them.

Springfield is the way to go
The wife has a Defender and its been solid for about 2k rds but she doesnt carry it often.

I have several 1911's in all sizes but prefer the Commander for carry. My S&W is the bobtail but not a PC gun with ported slide like Hunts.

More money but you may want to look at the Dan Wesson lineup. I've been looking at their CCO and ECO models for myself.

You already have some good guns. You have time to save up and get what you really want.
