Bisley Hunter I cut to 5.5", most accurate 44 of the half dozen I've owned and dozens more I've shot.

And the Lipseys 3 3/4" Bisley my wife bought me for our anniversary a couple years ago. The front ramp was on crooked from the factory so I melted it off and milled a one piece blade out of barstock and put a gold bar in it, that coupled with an action job and it's good to go now. Holster is a Diamond D hunter. And ammo is the old reliable 10gr of Unique under a Lyman 429421.
Front sight in the pic is the factory unit, I'll try to remember to take a pic of the new on and put it up sometime.

...always liked the way those cut down Hunters looked... I think Clements did them at one time.. Who did yours?

Nice 44's there...

My Bisley Hunter with scope.. I wanted to see how accurate I could be with a scope.. At almost 70 my close vision is not what it once was.. For pure hunting with a pistol, this has been fun.. But for packing, a regular pistol is far better..

I did the work on mine Bob, actually a really simple job as long as you've got a lathe and mill. The change in balance when you cut a Hunter to 5.5" is really pretty incredible.

Can you show that with a scope. I really like the look of that gun, but wonder if the scope is going to actually hang over the end of the barrel. Did you have a problem redoing the end that allows replacement of the front sight?

Here's a 1959 vintage Ruger flattie .44 I picked up some years back, that had already been trimmed to a packin' 4 5/8":

I will have to say I covet the first Hunter model in "The Kid's" post.

Bisley Hunter 44 Mag . . . Is there anything better?

I don't know how it looks with a scope but I'm sure all but the smallest would have some overhang. Likely wouldn't hurt anything oher than looks.

I duplicated the front sight arrangement just like it was from the factory and even matched the crown style. If you didn't know they didn't make one at Ruger you'd swear it was factory.

Nice find ismith.

That's a freaking seriously nice find! I have one as well, but mine does not have nearly that much bluing!

BY all means when you get that 7.5" FT in ismith, feel free to post it on the 44 mag pics and discussion thread. That is a superb catch.

An unconverted '59 flattop I picked up a few months ago. It is an accurate shooter and I plan to hunt deer with it next season. 6 1/2" barrel, but I may have it cut down the road.

Evidently there are a few of those old Flat-tops still floating around out there, but they sure are rare. Nice!
