What's one worth these days? I found a 7 1/2" "Buntline", with just the .22LR cylinder, that looks new. No box, but no turn lines on the cylinder, either. Looks brand new, to be fair about it.

They're all over the place. I've seen them around and slightly under $400.00 and I've seen them all the way up to $800.00. They're VERY good revolvers and they're really cool. If you think about them more like a new gun, it can give you a good idea of what you ought to pay for one.

A Single Six is going for around $600.00 new these days and IMO the Colt is just as good and significantly more cool. So if I were in the market for a single action .22 I personally wouldn't hesitate to pay between $550-$650 if the revolver is really nice and really just what I want.

Thanks! That's a pretty wide range, and they're asking $600 for it. Dead in the middle. Gonna have to ponder it for awhile. Maybe by then it'll remove itself from my interest.

Personally, I wouldn't want that length of barrel......even cheap.

If its 22lr they only made 1,558 of them in 7.5.

If its dual cylinder, they made 17,048 of them in 7.5.

If its 22 lr only; the barrel will have a flat muzzle with a slight chamfering around the outside edge.

If its dual, it will have a crowned muzzle. Spare cylinders can be found for around 100.00 if needed.

That price makes sense. Longer barrel revolvers are harder to sell these days. If you like that barrel length, then the price is certainly fair.

Far as I can remember, the "Buntline" should be a 9½". The 7½" was a standard length.

The 7.5 new frontier was called the buntline.

The 9.5s were buntlines as well, except that they were colt scouts.

Locally, a new Single Six IS running $550 or thereabouts, in stainless and 2 cylinders.
This Colt has "Buntline" rollmarked on the barrel.

I'll look it over better later today. I'm not sold on buying it, just yet. Colt revolvers aren't too common around here, this is just the second or third one I've seen in this area, and I'm 57 years old. I wouldn't be able to just look at the thing, though, I'd have to shoot it. A "looker" or "investment" just in my bag of tricks.

I was probably thinking the 9.5" Frontier Scout. $600 is a good price for a nice New Frontier, which is the best of Colt's rimfire bunch.

A new blued Single Six convertible should be around $450. Rule of thumb for new Rugers is 75% of MSRP.

It WAS unmarked. When I asked to look at it, the retard behind the counter opened the loading gate and spun the cylinder, and put a turn mark on it.

It was one of the flat-faced muzzled guns, a .22LR only.

I was so bent at the knucklehead behind the counter that I walked out.

I know it's hard to get good help these days, but hiring half-wits should be a capital offense, in regards to older Colts.

He had to have manipulated the hammer in some way. Did he pull it back just far enough to drop the bolt but not all the way to the half cock notch? I hate it when idiots do that.

These were my favorite among the Colt 22's, being closer in size and appearance to the 45. I always preferred the Peacemaker 22, but an old friend has a New Frontier for $475, if any of you are interested. I'd buy it myself but I just blew $1500 on Sigs and Brownings.

Thats is good buy. That is the GS series with the cross bolt safety.

The all blue model was made 1985 and 86 only. They made 3241 of the 6".

In time, these pistols will rise significantly in value.
