very nice, I like the 4 inch 44 magnum and I wrangled my way into a 629 4 inch classic with the round butt.

No, you bought them out of idaho............ Still good grips, just won't fit a MG. Put Xframe grips on the MG.....

Bob allowed my wife to purchase this sweet 657 MG from him, for my Christmas present last year.


I transferred the Altimont grips from a 6 inch 657. I like the feel of the revolver better and handle recoil of heavy loads better with the larger grips.

I don't see the "Mountain Gun" on the barrel. Is it a Mountain Revolver instead. That would be really cool. The Mountain Revolver was not marked on the barrels.

They are nice guns, with or without a lock. I picked this one up at the LGS for $299 in 2005. Even came with a box of 44 mag ammo. After shooting it I understood why. Took me a couple sets of grips before I found the S&W presentation grips that were easier on my hands.

Those are nice grips. I prefer stainless, but that blued gun is really pretty.

Will this be another 44 mag safe queen that you only shoot poofter loads out of?

Notice when someone has a LOCK gun, that they always photo the right (starboard) side of the gun, so as not to be embarrassed by the KWIKSET keyhole lock in the side on the left??? TOO PHUQQING FUNNY!!!!

Yes, that is a lock gun, my first. I own 3 now and have never had a problem with any of them. I have many without the lock but I would not let the lock stop me from buying one, especially for $299. That MG is one of my favorites.
