Anyone have one, use one, live with one, that can give me a 'Product Report'??

What to expect compared to 1911, of which I have 6, but the local GS has a SIG 45ACP that I think is calling my name.....

Get it

Then spend the time learning how to shoot it

I shot this target yesterday using the sig elite performance 230 grain ammo

All shots except the two in the head were fired DA

The head shots were single action

All shots from from 50 yards

I own two; a two-toned version and a blued version. Great guns, love them! These are the older style with the internal extractors.

I absolutely like mine! Much superior to my 1911 in every respect except nostalgia. Very good as CCW in a Galco Combat Master holster and resulting targets looks as though a target pistol shot them.

Have several, including a 9 mm w/ a heel magazine release.
They are high quality, accurate reliable pistols that will give you a lifetime of service.
I am a 1911 fan but a P220 goes to the range every time and one is in my carry rotation.
The P220 and I have had a long love affair going back to Browning imported BDA in the late 1970's.
Beware SIG's can be addictive.

I bought a sig 220 last year.
I've had and still have a long list of handguns (at least for me) and the 220 is the best of them all.
Glock
Ruger
XD's
Kahr
Beretta
FNP
Some are better than others but the sig 220 is more accurate and feels better in the hand. But it is more $$$$$$ than the others by a good bit.
I would not have got it but it was $250.00 off regular price. Great pistol!!!!

Bayonet Point/Hudson area.

Buy it and shoot it. Nothing needs to be done to a SIG P220 right out of the box. Shoot it and clean it.

How is the carry model compared to he full size gun?
Posted By: gitem_12 Re: Sig P-220 - 09/21/16
Just a bit shorter in barrel length, the full size really isn't much bigger than a 1911 commamder
Posted By: jimmyp Re: Sig P-220 - 09/22/16
so the new 220's are as good as the old german guns? In 1992 I had a 220 with the folded steel slide, it was a very accurate gun. I have stayed away from SIG's because for a while I thought they lost their mojo, maybe back now.
Posted By: gitem_12 Re: Sig P-220 - 09/22/16
Every sig I have ever had has been extremely accurate.

I had a German made P220 and it constantly malfunctioned, so it quickly went down the road

A common complaint with sign is the bore axis being too high. That's a grip issue. By simply repositioning the thumbs, it allows you to get a higher grip and for me greatly increases accuracy

I have a west German 220 and a 220-R. The 220 has been flawless extremely accurate and the pleasure to shoot. The 220-R I had two failures to eject on the second magazine fired out of the gun, after that I never had a problem . They both carry well in the VM II.

I have had a 220 for probably 15 or so years. Best way i can describe it is handing it to my then grandson who at the time was about 16, never fired a .45acp before. He dumped a mag into the space of about half a hand at ten yards. They are well designed guns, even the firing pin is tapered to prevent powder residue from coming back in the firing pin channel. Easy to take down and clean, utterly reliable. Only issue i ever had was loading some 200gr H&G68swc's a little to far out, and they were hanging up going into chamber. A reloading error, not the guns fault. Other than that one booboo, has ate everything i put in it. I bought it originally for the double action, which was somewhat of a rarity at the time. Also for being left handed, and it did not have a typical 1911safety on it. It's sitting on my desk right now, loaded with some of those awful flying ashtray's and power pistol.
