On June 23rd my home was hit by the flooding, most all my firearms were in the water and mud. A few days later I cleaned up some of the ones used for self defense and the rest just got sprayed heavily with either Rem Oil or WD40 (I know but it was that or nothing). This past week I went down and got the Buckmark and my 870 to do a little shooting and dove hunting today.

The 870 didn't get much mud and being what it is I didn't expect any trouble from it, there wasn't.

The little Browning I feared for. The mags for it had been in a Ziploc bag and were high enough that they were fine. The other evening I douched the Buckmark with Rem Action cleaner and run some clean patches through the barrel to get traces of mud out of it. Then hit it with more Rem oil and some dry patches.

Today it digested 300 rounds of assorted ammo without a hitch, including 150 rounds of Remington Thunderbolts which so many people claim to be some of the worst ammo on the market. The first 5 rounds were fired slowly to see if it would still be fairly accurate and if it would function properly. It is still very accurate, I couldn't see any rust in the barrel so I didn't really expect that to change. The next 15 rounds were ran just as quick as I could yank the trigger trying to see if it would bobble. It didn't.

It still needs stripped and thoroughly and properly cleaned but it's good to know that it will be fine. I'll give reports on some of the others when I get to them but it may still be a while.

Sorry about the flood Dave. Mine nearly did in March. A once in a hundred year flash flood. I was spared.

All the best.

Buckmark is uber. Sorry about the damage.

A lot of people have a negative opinion of WK40, and mostly, rightly so. However, IMO it's good for what it is.

I've hosed rifles that were totally saturated by precip and were starting to freckle with rust.

Of course, once the H2O was displaced I douched them with brake cleaner to clean the WD off and get them dried.

All that aside, the Buckmark is uber. wink
