I want to get some extra mags for my 9mm Range Officer, what make do you guys recommend and where is the best place to buy them?

I see CDNN has some cheap ones for 14.99, are these worth a dam or spend the extra coin?

Thanks

IMO, cheap or after market mags are the main cause for most FTF in a 1911. That being said, I only buy two brands of 1911 magazines.

Wilson Combat for carry. And Chip McCormick Power Mags for hunting and competition. Never had a problem with either one of those. Ever.

Neal, I knew I liked you. grin

To the OP, Neal's suggestions are exactly what I use in my three 1911's.

Friends don't let friends buy cheap mags.

Glad I asked. These are superior to the factory mags?

Tripp Cobra Mags, nothing is better; Wilson's are a distant 2nd.

I traded for a pristine Colt Combat Commander with new Colt mags which should've been as good as any "aftermarket" company I thought.

After having troubles, I was told by several here that my mags were junk and I needed Wilson Combat 47D's so I bought a few and they did make a huge difference.

I've never had troubles with Wilson 47d's out of a .45. Actually, I've never had any trouble out of Colt 7 rounders and my Colt 8 rounders have worked just fine too. Mine are all about 14 years old. Some have been left loaded the entire time.

All of my Wilson mags have been upgraded with Tripp guts and I've been running them that way since Tripp released that product.

If I were buying a 1911 magazine today, I'd go straight to Tripp.

I've always used used Wilson or McCormick. I'll have to give these a try.

Ed, do you use 7 or 8 round mags in the Wilson's?
And why?

Buying cheap magazines sometimes works and sometimes doesn't work out. With a 9mm 1911 the magazine plays a very big role. I would buy the best and only the best. And in 9mm, there is no better magazine tan the Tripp Research magazines.
