What cast bullet company makes good quality bullets at the best price. I also wouldn't mind some of the coated ones. I don't have the time to cast right now so I need to order some 255g stuff for my 45 colt, something for my 327 federal, maybe a good 158 for the 357's, and a 200g flat point for the 10mm if I can find one. Coated would be a plus but using want to pay jacked prices.

Thanks,
Bb
Laser-Cast (Oregon Trail Bullet Co.) is the brand I shoot. But not paying for shipping on lead is a definite motivator. Not sure where in ID you are, but it might be worth stopping if you're traveling through.

With that said, bullet prices have climbed a lot in recent years, and I've slowed my consumption more than a little.

Oregon Trail Bullet Co.
Missouri Bullets for a commercial cast company.

Lots of bullet types, lots of coated bullets and they make hard and harder. Not SUPER hard like Oregon Trail.

I really love Rim Rock.

I won't say they're the cheapest but I love their bullets.

Missouri makes a good bullet and their 170 grain SWC is the most consistently accurate bullet, of any type, that I've used in the 40 S&W. Their 45 Colt bullets shoot pretty well too.

But the absolute best 45 Colt bullet I've ever used came from Ed Heathwaite at Maplewood Bullets. Price has gone up a little since I wrote this review, but they're worth every penny.

His Lee 452-255-RF sized to .454 has shot great in the three 45 Colts I've tried it in and makes my New Vaquero think it's a bullseye gun. If I miss the center of a 6" plate off hand at 50 yards with that combination, there is nobody to blame but myself.

Stole my idea. Usually the answer is "one of my daughters because they love running the lever on the furnace"
Bayou Bullets, run by Donnie Miculek.

Great bullets, great service, fair pricing.

I've found none better, anywhere.

Second for Rim Rock as my favorite, but I'll also use Missouri Bullet Works or even Midway Hunters Supply in a pinch.
Missouri and bayou for plinking or low speed stuff. Beartooth bullets for lbt style at the correct hardness. I have had accuracy issues with Oregon trail unless they were pushed hard enough to fully obturate the base for a proper seal. I find it a plus that Missouri will offer the same bullet in different hardness.
I used to use a lot of Oregon Trail but they have gotten too expensive and they are very hard. The only one I still use is their higher end 310g gas checked in my 329pd that I carry while bow hunting near Yellowstone.

I just got a "sample pack" from Missouri Bullets of a 180 gr coated bullet of 18 Brinnel hardness that I want to try in my .401 Herters. The .401 is supposed to actually be .403, and they sent me some sized to .402, which after coating I am measuring at .403 - .405. Haven't loaded any yet, but I am anticipating good results.

I haven't bought anything for some time as I was hoarding pre-retirement. Looking at my inventory far and away it's Montana Bullet Company, next is Beartooth then about an equal amount of Missouri and Friendswood. I have been pleased with all of them.
Good information!! I can use this stuff!!
Check out CheyCast bullets

CheyCast

They cast bullets with their HiTech coating. No lube needed. I'll swear I have gotten better accuracy from them than from Oregon Laser Cast, by far.

Their owners are good people and operate the gun range just outside of Cheyenne, but that's not why I'm recommending them. I tried some of their bullets about ten years ago and wasn't that impressed. But these new coated bullets are great.
I like Oregon Trail (Laser-Cast) because they're local and quality is high. For hunting bullets I tend toward Cast Performance when they're on sale at Midway.
Dardas. Always flat rate shipping of about$12,Plus you can order oversized bullets , .001, .002, and.003 over sized

I like Bayou Bullets, Dardas and Laser Cast.
Oregon Tail Laser Cast
Missouri and Badman. I like them both. Hasbeen
