Not pinned and recessed. That sucks. I got some pachmeyers that would look pimp on it though. Put some armor all on those bad boys and you are in business.
Yes, and yes. One of your better moments for sure. The Truck is loaded and we will be homeward bound to MT today. We will be hosting Double action Days next month and you can bring that sweet thing along. You do realize that I have told the boys that you will be the Instructer for that event? Bet you can get Ben to sticth you some leather for that thing. And by the way, if you want to you are welcome to come over and unload the moving truck when I get there. (Optional of course). Keep buying those N frames.
Pinned and recessed is nice if it is otherwise good. Lots of pinned and recessed guns are from the '70s when both S&W and Colt had quality issues, timing and such.
That is a sweet revolver! P&R is over rated and good for the collectors. I have a feeling that gun is meant to shoot the hell out of.
As an aside, I would not touch a P&R Model 25 in .45 Colt unless you want a cylinder full of oversized throats. Yeah, no big deal if you hand load with cast.
At the 25 it hits high. Unless I mate the bottom of the rear to the bottom of the orange on the front. If you make them flush it hits high. Once I sorted that out it was laying them in there.

No DA tutorials with the virgin pictured in the OP. Those serrations hurt my lotion'ed hands.
Congrats on the find Dave. As long as you don't put faux mother of pearl stocks on it you can't cancel out the kick-azzness that thing's rockin'. And NO, pink laminate "save the ta-tas" stocks would look just as wrong.
Nickel 29's always remind me of Robert Peterson's Polar Bear he killed with a 6.5" nickel Pre-29. I was about seven when I first saw that photo, and it looks a bad-azz today as it did back then.
You with a pile of gophers probably won't have quite the same effect, but I'll still look.
We get it. It exists. Got it. That's why I pay for fughkin' health insurance.
JFC. Enough is enough. Like somebody is going to turn on the fugkin' game, see a bunch of pink and exclaim 'Oh, Lord! I had no idea titts could deteriorate and fall off!'

I'm not sure who'd do the work, but ebony target stocks with MAGA inlaid in silver would make Trump proud and piss off some snowflakes in the process. I can't think of a better handgun to pull this off.

I don't know if a jeweler would do it or just who, but if done correctly, the silver is poured in for a perfect fit..........like a Shiloh Sharps forend tip.

These Herrett's fit my largish hand very well. They are leaner than the factory Targets and, of course, smooth. Most of my N-Frames wear them. They ain't pretty (though being cocobolo which is no longer importable). I have extra. If you want to give one a try let me know.
I've ground the triggers on a S&W N-frame before--I removed the trigger from the gun and used hand files followed by stones. An easier route--and one I've taken since that first trigger-grinding project--is to find a smooth factory trigger and simply swap it in for the wide, serrated, target trigger.
The wind sounds and looks like around here! If you had been shooting with the wind to your back, the smoke may have reached the plate before the bullet. Nice shooting, especially for those conditions!

deflave, black and white ebony would be the way to go with your new find.
Good looking revolver. I've always wanted a Freedom Arms Premier grade in .41 Magnum. Don't know if they would lower their standards and chamber it for one of my favorite cartridges. It's academic anyway, as soon as I got enough cash in my "slush fund" to purchase a Freedom Arms Premier grade I'd buy a Nightforce scope for my M1A.
The serrations on that target trigger are sharper than hell!
I slave for you folks.
I had a -3 .44 Magnum from the S&W Custom shop. It had a 4" Magna Ported barrel, night sights, the serrated trigger and a large hammer. The sadistic RSOs made ME fire .44 Magnum rounds when we qualified, even though the .357 Magnum shooters got to use .38s. The full course of fire was 60 rounds. By the end of qualifications I was bleeding all over my gun due to the trigger serrations tearing my delicate skin. I did that once during daylight qualifications, then repeated it for the night qualifications, after being issued .44 magnums again. Next year I showed up with my own ammunition - factory new .44 specials. The Sheriff happened to be out there, and he let me use the .44 special since the .357 magnum shooters were using .38 specials. I sold that revolver and have regretted it ever since. I sold it to one of our reserve deputies in 1987. I tracked him down last year and called him. I'm trying to reacquire the actual firearms I used during my short LE career. Unfortunately, he wouldn't sell it to me. I wonder if I bought him one like it if he would consider a trade....? If not I'd have a very handy .44 magnum.
Resurrecting this thread. Partly because I like looking at Flave's new 29. And partly because I found one like it that may be a good deal.
Anyways:
Hit a couple pawn shops a bit further from my house that I normally don't get to.
Found a 29-2 6" nickel .44 mag. Flawless. Not a nick on it, but no factory box or presentation box. TT, TH, red ramp front, white outline adjustable rear. Original target stocks are perfect.
Tag is marked $1100. Don't like to dicker until I've done my homework.
What say ya's, gents. I know I don't want to pay the $1100. I've got an offer number in my head. Just wondering what you guys think.
Hey LD......if you buy that revolver let me know. I have a presentation box that has your name on it. It shows some wear but everything works and it beats a shoe box.
Shooting a course of fire with mag loads is....not fun.
Especially with that trigger.
Dave
The course of fire was 60 rounds. I qualified with it for two years. By the 30th round, give or take a few, my index finger was bleeding profusely. The year after that I put several wraps of athletic tape on my index finger and brought my own .44 special ammunition. Worked great! I also came to the realization that it would take a better man than I to carry a 629 w/a 4" barrel as a duty weapon. I switched to a Para Ordnance P-14 and had it converted to .45 Super. After shooting that .44 Magnum the .45 Super recoiled like a pop-gun.

Good luck and keep me posted.

Thanks, Charlie! Very neighborly of you... from 3000 miles away!
