My best friend's wife and son met me today to give me his Hi Power he willed to me. I broke it down for a good cleaning, removed the magazine safety, polished the feed ramp a little, put some Lucas Red & Tacky grease on the rails, and put it together. I need to get a couple of magazines. Any to consider besides MecGar 13 round mags?

Mec Gar 15 rounders are very good also.

I would not be surprised if MecGar is the OEM for Browning on the Hi-Power mags these days. MecGar does excellent work; I use their mags in my CZ 75 which is very close to the Hi-Power magazine design and they work perfectly.

Mec Gar has OEM Hi Power mags for over 25 years.

I have read the Brits only loaded 12 for reliable feeding.

I would call him a really good best friend. I had an 82 year cousin that passed away a couple of years ago. I had given him several nice guns over many years. When he passed, his wife never even offered a token of any kind for a remembrance.

Thanks to all for the input. I ordered 2 MecGar 13 round mags. I read reviews on the 15 rounders and sometimes they had a few problems. 13 rounds is plenty for me.

under the heading of what is it worth? probably not much, but anyway.

I was fooling around with the magazine disconnect part in the mag well prior to taking it out. There is a little lever there that presses up against the mag, releasing the blocked trigger. Prior to taking the disconnect out, i tried a mag that had been phosphated, and then a shinny "blued" smooth mag. to me you could tell the difference in the trigger depending on what kind of mag was used.
Even better when the disconnect removed, which i did.

My trigger disconnect was taken out the day I got the Hi Power. Some people like them. I don't.
