Ok folks who have both the Thunder Beast and Dead Air… is there a clear winner?

Any 1 favorite or are they all just plain fun?

They're all fun. But the nod goes to the TB and the Mask over the Sparrow and lastly, the Banish....

It depends on which firearm is the host. I think my Thunder Beast does a better job of quieting a pistol. On a rifle, I can't tell the difference, but on a pistol the TBAC seems a little quieter. I have no scientific data to support my claim, just seems quieter to me, when I shoot the Mask and TBAC side-by-side.

I like that the Mask doesn't need a spacer when I put it on my Christiansen Ranger 22 rifle. For some reason, the Ranger has really long threads, and the muzzle makes contact with the first baffle of the TBAC before screwing it on all the way. The Mask offers plenty of room; I can screw it all the way down and not crash into the baffles.

My favorite design (of the ones I own, anyway) is the Surefire Ryder 22. The threaded end of the Ryder locks into place, and cannot be loosened by twisting on the suppressor tube. You need to use their special tool to disassemble the suppressor, which is a good thing, IMO. The threaded end of both the Mask and TBAC are just threaded into the main tube, and they do not lock into place. So, when you twist the suppressor tube to try and remove it from the muzzle, sometimes the tube unscrews from the thread adapter. Rather than removing the suppressor, it wants to come apart. To remove the Mask or TBAC, it's nice to have a wrench handy.

I have an older model Ryder 22A, with the aluminum baffles. It's crazy light, but it's an absolute pain to clean. The Ryder is also the least effective suppressor I've used on a pistol, as far as noise reduction. It's the loudest of the three rimfire cans I own, and louder than the Switchback and Sparrow my friends have. On a rifle, the Ryder 22A is fine, just as quiet as any of the other rimfire suppressors I've tried.

The newer Ryder 22S has stainless baffles, which should make for easier cleaning (vibratory tumbler and/or ultrasonic cleaner), but I'm not sure if it will be any quieter than my 22A when mounted on a pistol.

After over a year wait for my mask I received a email this week that my status has been changed to approved. I'm going to order a 30 cal next.

Thanks for the feedback! I am very pleased with my Thunder Beast but have heard good things about the Mask. I don’t “need” a second one but it sure would be handy.
I’ve heard Christiansen had a batch of 22s get out with 223 length threads. After my smith did similar to my CZ. Luckily I had him cut it at 16.5” so there was enough to cut it back to the 0.4” that it should be.

Only problem with the mask is no spanners
