Ran into one yesterday, fondled it, put it back in the rack and went about my day. Can't stop thinking about it but of all the things I dont NEED another 22LR about tops the list.


Never heard of or seen one until yesterday - whats the scoop? Gimme the good, the bad, and the ugly.

This particular rifle had 22" barrel, scultped cheekpiece, front sight hood, rear sight regulated out to 150 if I remember correctly. Beautiful wood, few dings - nothing heinous. No appreciable bluing wear. Tag said it comes with one mag - didn't ask, imagine 5 rd or so. $800 - smash or pass?


Previously would pretty easily have justified to myself to purchase for the boy, but as of late all signs point to him being a lefty...

My dad has had one for 25 years or so.

The are excellent rifles, very well made and accurate.

If it's in good shape it's worth 800 or more I'd say.

I had one back in the late 80's. I used it to compete in the Hunter class small bore silhouette, it was accurate and trouble free. The trigger on it was excellent, I don't know if mine was representative or not but it had a small screw in front of the trigger that you could turn a half-turn, if I recall correctly, and change the pull weight from pounds to ounces.

They were on par with the Anschutz sporters of the day. The down side is that there is a limited parts supply for them and a very limited group of buyers for them should you decide to sell. I would buy at $400 - $500 but not a $800.

FWIW…….I would buy them all day long at $800 (in good shape of course). Very accurate, great triggers (mine are double set), well made and I shoot mine well offhand.

$400 it never would have touched the rack again...$400 doesn't buy much today.

Thanks to all for the replies so far, thinking I'll try and sneak up there after work one evening this week. Probably be gone, lol. "Learned" the lesson many times, just haven't quite started applying it yet.

Well for what it’s worth I’ll be using either the KKJ or Mauser Es350B for an inaugural .22 sporter silhouette rifle match at Ridgway, PA in a few weeks - has to be a sporter rifle with original barrel sights (no aperture sights allowed). Thinking that either of these should work well with the tangent rear sights…..I will practice with both and see which one I’m more consistent with? I’m leaning towards the KKJ initially with the double set trigger so we’ll see what happens?!

In my KKJ experience it is as accurate as any Anschutz, after that it is all up to the shooter.

Easy smash. Hate sound older than I am but they don’t make rifles like that anymore

We have a running boar and a GX-1 Walther. Both have the same action as the KKJ just have the match trigger and heavy barrel. A KKJ is hard to find especially for under $1000. If it is in good shape, it is worth 1K or more.

KKJ Follow up - went back yesterday intending to buy. Passed.

Confirmed it does have 5 shot mag. Pulled bolt and looked down barrel with cell light - clean, crisp as far as I could tell. Sights marked out to 125 not 150. Wood was a little more marked up than initial glance revealed, still not out of line for 50 - 60 year old rifle. Deal breaker for me was set triggers. Did not think to look the first time around and had trigger lock on.
