Hi,

I did the search here for info on available mags for the
Marlin Papoose 70pss but found conflicting, or unclear info.

There's the older, wood furniture Marlin Papoose 70ps and the newer Marlin Papoose 70pss. I need to know about the 70pss.

I know it comes with a 7rd mag but need to know if there are higher capacity mags available for the 70pss, NOT the 70p.

Thanks,

Mike
Nobody owns a 70pss and has mag info?
Y'all must have been overcome by all that smoke from the campfire.
rimfirecentral.com may give you more specific info

I had one of these for a while. I cut a few inches off the buttstock and used it to teach my two little girls to shoot offhand with. They were having trouble holding up the heavier bolt action that I started them from the benchrest with. So, the light weight Papoose worked very well in this role. They had already learned good fire control discipline and the semi-auto was not an issue in that regard. After they outgrew it, I sold it to another Dad looking for something like that.

Anyway, the Papoose uses the standard Marlin semi-auto box magazine. I remember buying a spare magazine for mine off the rack (blister packed) at the same Wal-Mart from which I purchased the Papoose. The same magazine works for both the 70PSS and the more numerous Model 795 variations.
I'm waiting for my 70 PSS to come in as we speak. I just bought a factory 10 round mag for it today. It is nickel plated and in the Marlin wrapper. It specifically says for the 70 PSS, 995 and 70L with last-shot hold open feature on the front of the package. On the back it says that it also fits the following Marlin rifles: 880SS, 25N, 70, 7000, 70P, 70 HC, 880 and 995. The UPC code is: 26495 07135. MI VHNTR
Ramline made a 25 round clip for the Papoose a number of years back, I doubt you'd have much luck finding or buying one now. I did see the 10 round clips for sale somewhere just a bit ago, can't think where at the moment.
