But Ruger isn't taking new orders so good luck finding one.

Picked up one yesterday
I love rimfires and take down guns
I see it staying in my vehicle
I haven't done any hard core testing. Just a couple of mags of ammo at a can at 30 yards. I believe I ha e a winner. I mounted a Fast Fire sight tonight. I am ready for tomorrow
That is really neat. I doubt I need the take down feature but I'd like to have one.

I have just the place to hide it in my truck. Is that reason enough?
That is very neat. The review on gun blast is solid.

Its a 10/22 it will be solid but probably have one silly recall

But I guess my question is how non-bias is "gun Blast" and all those type of reviewers?
In my industry the Ladds and Lasses promote who pays

been thinking bout an AR-7 to live in the truck full time......kinda like this 10-22 more....
My AR7 won't feed 300 rounds without a hiccup
So far this TD 10/22 has gone through 300 rounds no hiccup. My other 10/22's have always worked well this appears to be the same.
I saw a neat You Tube video on the take down. There's a Browning for sale here locally that I'm about to push the button on. Man, I do love 22's.
I have been playing with it a bit

first its so simple even I can do it

Second typical Ruger nothing delicate to break its good and heavy duty should be nothing to break when you assemble and disassemble

I think I want to put detachable rings do any reasonably priced ones work?

Hank

Boatboy,

Got a set of Weaver detachables, only had them on and off a half dozen times so far (a scope on my pistol)and am happy so far. Were only around $20+, they are steel, for lighter weight I would look at Tactical Solutions rings, but I have no experience with them yet.

was thinking of taking a break from gun buying but now Ruger comes out with this...originally was looking for a Papoose, but think Marlin is discontinuing them as i couldn't find one...think I will like the 10-22 better, even though it's a whole pound heavier.

Jerry
Boatboy: My local small pawn/sport shop has had two of them in.
I handled one of them and it was interesting - I hope they work out well for you.
I might be interested in one if they came in a heavy barrel.
I really liked the carrying case that comes with this takedown 10/22.
Be sure to let us know how it shoots.
Best of luck to you.

The LGS had 4 10/22 TDs come in on Friday. I bought one today and they have one left. They are selling them out quickly. I ran a few rounds through it today and it seems to work just fine. Overall, I'm quite pleased with it.

My Marlin 70 PSS, aka Papoose, is lighter and a bit more portable in comparison to the Ruger TD. I'm going to see if it's possible to get the butt pad off of the Ruger and set it up for storage just like I did to my Marlin. The auto bolt release mod is also must do on the Ruger.
Thinking I'll have to get one of those, even though I've a bunch of 10/22's already. Always room for another. Interested in seeing how they designed the takedown feature.
MIVHNTR,

"I'm going to see if it's possible to get the butt pad off of the Ruger and set it up for storage just like I did to my Marlin."

Can you post a picture of how you did your Papoose's pad?

Thanks,

Jerry
Jerry, I'll get a picture or two up for you tomorrow. Here's what I did. I removed the factory screws and used an awl to pry the butt plate off of the Marlin. It was an extremely tight fit, BTW. Then I sanded the plate down enough to allow an easy remove/install into the stock.

I drilled out the screw holes in the butt plate and then tapped the stock for machine screws. I used stainless nuts/machine screws to hold the butt plate on the stock. The nuts are threaded all the way on to the screw head and are used to allow me to grip the screw and remove it by hand. The stock is hollow and contains a folded sheet of foam to deaden sound. Now you can add whatever you want to the hollow stock and have easy access to it.
Jerry, here's a few pictures of the Marlin. Let me know if you want to see anything else. The white substance on the butt plate and screws is white grease. It makes it a bit easier to remove and replace the screws.

MIVHNTR,

Thanks,

I picked up my 10/22TD this afternoon and quickly topped it with an older Leupold M8 4X compact. One thing I've noticed is that the scope is too long and now the stock/receiver portion won't fit in the carry case anymore. Therefore, scope options with this gun will be limited.
Found one! smile
I picked one up today!
I also bought a Nikon P22 scope to put on mine in QD rings.
I'm thinking about an aperture sight for mine, or a 2.5x Leupold.
I thought I might try a P22. I got into it right and it is a 2 - 7 power scope. Fairly compact.

This is my plan for the 10/22TD I've got coming. Lightest scope around, or an aperture sight. Perhaps a reddot, but more likely a set of XS sights if I don't go with a Leupold.
I forgot I had a Weaver 2.5x that I took of another 10/22 a few years ago (new Weaver, not old steel version), it's on there now.

Still think I'll order some XS for it though.
I need to find a set of QD rings.....just need to decide on the flavor. Might have a pard mill the center out of that Ruger supplied mount to so I can use the sights with the base on it.
I just got one today. This is a sweet setup. I'm thinking a compact red dot sight will be the ticket for fitting it into the pack without adding any length.

Can't wait to shoot it!
Bought one last month....has been a great shooter so far. Posted this on another site...

Great write up RJM!
Local small shop that primarily deals in Rugers, has gotten four in so far. Owner says they're still fairly hard to come by here, or he'd have probably sold twice that many?

He likes them and hardly anything new ever suits him.

Great write up rjm. I haven't had the time to do anything more than assemble mine yet, let alone shoot it. I am waiting on a set of QD rings for it also.

You mentioned adjusting the TD mechanism. What exactly did you need to do. Mine may have been set by the shop I bought it from as it locks up tight.
Now thats pretty nifty!
