I took the plunge when a Canadian dealer got some Bmags in stock as I wanted to give the fastest rimfire a try. It seems to shoot well enough with no failures. When Boyds came out with a replacement stock I ordered the Rimfire Hunter model and topped the little Savage with a new Redfield 4-12x40. Feels a lot better now without that flimsy plastic handle. Heres a cell phone pic...
A friend of my son bought a savage version didn't shoot it or see it shot on paper but at 100 M on steel it seemed plenty accurate, didn't chrono it either , maybe later this month. The cases are noticeably bigger than a HMR . The trigger on the little savage is defeintly among the lightest factory trigger I have shot.
I have a Bmag and have had it for a couple of months. Accuracy is good, not great. The 25 gr is more accurate in my rifle than the faster 20gr. The rotary magazine is junky and doesn't feed reliably. The rifle is pretty rough around the edges. The accutrigger takes a little getting used to but it is at least adjustable. I have it on the lightest setting. I have shot a few armadillos with it. It makes them pop. It shoots pretty flat for a rimfire. No hold over at 100yds.
I wish someone would come out with a better looking and functioning rifle. Maybe like Ruger's .17 that looks like a Model 77. Also, would someone please make an aftermarket magazine that works??
