I got one of these:

http://cz-usa.com/product/cz-455-american-suppressor-ready-22-lr-16-bbl-5-rd-mag-black-polymer/

Waiting on the can before I shoot it because it's going to have the can attached all the time.

I'm ordering a 25MOA extended rail from DIP. What else do I need? Do these triggers usually require an adjustable sear or spring kit? Bed it? Float it? Wait and see?

I don't know much about CZ's.

Isn't that the truth! Spent the morning testing various ammo in mine, and it's accurate as heck, and not at all fussy about what I feed it.

I have .22s with a lot more $$ and work invested, that don't shoot as well as my 452 lefty.

Go over to www.rimfirecentral.com to the CZ forum and read through the stickies at the top. They give you several optional upgrades and trigger options.

You might give the Yo-Dave a try first. It made the trigger in my 452 just as nice as the one in my Annie 1416 and only cost $20. It can easily be changed back or removed if you decide to do something else afterward.

This.

Also, DO NOT try to clean your CZ with a .22 rod, the bore is too tight. You need a .17 or .20 rod, one-piece such as a Dewey, nothing else will do the job PROPERLY.
Posted By: deflave Re: CZ 455? - 10/01/14
York,

Funny you mention that. I usually use my .17 Dewey and jag on all my 22LR's. All I have done with this CZ is degrease it inside and out.

Any of you guys try the Gemtech sub sonic stuff by the way?

I can't comment as this was my only CZ and it came with that trigger already installed. but it sure is as nice of a trigger I have used. I think it was set right near 1lb

I believe it has more to do with the rod dragging on the CZ ejectors than the bores actually being too tight, although the "tight bore" story is all over the net.

This, plus the fact that manufacturers tend to make jags too large in diameter, especially in the smaller calibers. As others have noted, .20 cleaning accessories are just about ideal for a .22 rimfire bore. Brushes have to fit the bore, so I made my own adapter so that I can use a .22 nylon bore brush on my .20 rod, but you can buy adapters from outfits like Brownell's.

Travis buy an aluminum mag well off DIP. The OEM is a brittle plastic POS. It is a must have IMO.

The plastic 10 round ones feed just as flawlessly as the steel 5 shot jobs. Personally I prefer the 5 shot ones because I don't like the 10 shot pissers extending outwardly.
Posted By: woodson Re: CZ 455? - 10/02/14
Buy a [bleep] ton of CCI Standard Velocity ammo and laugh. Wolf match is awesome but expensive. Those CCI SV are the real deal at a fraction of the price.

I have a few brands from Eley to Remington junk. Match ammo is almost always sub sonic, the Wolf is pretty good. Best cheap sub sonic I have is Winchester.
Posted By: woodson Re: CZ 455? - 10/02/14
I did a experiment at the range last weekend using all bulk HV ammo out of my 453. Winchester, remington and federal HV HP ammo, shot off a lead sled, 10-5 shot groups @ 50 yards. Each change of ammo brand was shot 30 times before the groups were printed. Result? Winchester was the winner by a LARGE margin, then remington, and a distant 3rd was the federal. No duds with anything other than the Remington.

I found out the hard way, ruined a brand new Dewey .22 rod, ran it into my 452 and darn near didn't get it out. Stripped rod coating the length of the rod and rifling marks all the way. Ejector is not in play when using the proper rod guide, which I did.

When I want to show off at the range when there is a Cooper, Anny, or Kimber I'll break out the wolf match. When they ask what Im shooting I'll be sure to let them know it's a $400 CZ(be it glass bedded). A few honest guys have admitted they were ashamed they paid what they did.

I prefer the metal ones, but the plastic 5-shot I had worked okay. Get yourself a single-shot adapter too.

My 453 likes RWS SS HPs, which can be found on the WWW pretty regularly. Also Aguila Match Extras, but not the Aguila SS HPs, for some reason.

Drop in a Timney, thats what I put in my 455 tacticool. Ordered it straight from Timney set at 2lbs which is the lightest they would set it. Had barrel threaded for my Thunderbeast 22L-1.

I've got two 455's and they both shoot great with wolf MT, crap with CCI SV.
Posted By: Ruger280 Re: CZ 455? - 10/06/14
The single shot adapter is basically just a solid, blank magazine that allows you to shoot single shot easier. I stole my sons from his youth scout and got him a 5-shot.

I put the yo dave trigger kit, aluminum mag well, the extended release, and the bottom metal in my American. That trigger kit is the chit for very cheap, I can't imagine needing anything more. My plastic mag well never broke but the magazine never really felt like it snapped in. I always ended up checking and double checking that the mag was in all the way. Now with the aluminum well and extended release the mag snaps in very nicely. There is no doubt now when it locks in. The factory bottom metal seems a little cheap looking though it works just fine. The DIP bottom finishes it off nicely.

The switch barrel feature actually works very well. I just keep an index card with the scope adjustments for each caliber; 22LR, 22mag, 17 HMR. POI has never been an issue for me.
Posted By: Savage_99 Re: CZ 455? - 10/06/14
I shot my 455 17 HMR today to confirm it's zero and it was right on at 100 yds!

The two shot group was 3/8" and a little to the right away from the gusty wind.

I changed the trigger spring in mine and it's light and crisp.

I got it for the 17 HMR and never put the 22 barrel on.

You may have seen these Lilja barrels but if not I'll post a link. I don't own a 455, mine are 452's and 453's, but these barrels have been getting very good reviews at rimfirecentral. I've heard of fifty yard five shot .2's being common in 22 LR with good ammo. Not real sure on the other calibers since I'm a 22 shooter mostly.

Be advised, a match chamber will likely not extract an unfired round.

I love me some Stingers! They don't always shoot the best, but they sure kill stuff.
They also give great velocity and expansion from handguns. I won't tell you what I paid for the last two boxes though.

The SS adapter is really nice on the bench when shooting those greasy subsonic and match rounds.

Good point. You can see the pics at DIP. Doesn't extend past the 5-shot mag. It seems like just long enough to be "right". Plus they machined it to fit the aluminum mag well perfect.

I have a question I bought a CZ 455 combo model 17 hmr/22 the spacer block was missing and cross pin to change magazines so I got online and purchased a threaded 22 barrel with clip and was suppose to have the spacer block and cross pin but was missing in the new kit also is the new 22 barrel a drop in conversion or does it need to be fitted ? I have a couple Cz's in 17 mach 2 but this 455 is a newby for me .Any info would be helpful.
Posted By: Pappy348 Re: CZ 455? - 12/17/14
Call CZ and complain.

When I bought a 455 and later a .22 LR conversion, the instructions said the headspace had to be checked and the barrel adjusted if necessary. I was ticked, but when I contacted CZ USA, they said not to worry, it would be fine. By the time they got back to me, I had already shot it.

I did have some feeding issues with the LR, which could probably have been fixed by shifting the mag well around a bit, but by that time I decided the switch-barrel concept was over-rated. I sold it and bought a 453 in LR.

CZs are scary accurate for the price.

My all time favorite .22 rifle, and I've owned close to a 100, is the 452 American with the short 17" threaded barrel. It's accurate even with bulk ammo and just "handy" with the short barrel.

It's my squirrel gun. Shoot Eley SS's for hunting. Nasty little accurate round. $12 though. I shoot a lot of HV/SV at the range and usually prints 1" low compared to the SS.

Love my 455. Shoot just as good as slg's cooper. Definitely a yo Dave kit, metal mag well, and extended mag release. Mine feeds great with plastic and metal mags. The best ammo through it has been Norma tac, with cci sv, and eley subsonic hollow points very close 2nd place tie. The switch barrel works great, but my 17hmr barrel is a little picky. Hates vmax, but loves tnt and gamepoint. The 17 also doesn't feed as great as 22lr but feeds good enough. Very accurate gun. The only complaint is bolt throw is way to high and buying rings can be a ordeal at times due to this. I am going to have mine machined and cerakote to solve the problem.

I did the Yo Dave to a Scout and an American. The Scout loved RWS 50 way over anything else. I managed a 3/8" ten shot group with a 4x Leupold in bags at 50 yards. I almost duplicated it to make sure it wasn't a fluke. A friend shot it and then told me never to touch it again. I didn't listen and between the non-free floated barrel and retorquing the action screws my groups opened some but I only shot it a few times and mostly at 100. The American I floated and tried to use the Yo Dave but no were near as nice as the Scout trigger came out for some reason. It also didn't group anywhere near as good as the Scout even though the stock fits me and I tired all the good ammo and some of the bad. I lucked into some good stuff because a friend got into 22's from pistol only and started buying match ammo because he couldn't find regular stuff. He gave me a bunch of different brands to try. If I could get a full size 22 to shoot and have a trigger like the Scout I would pay alot more. I have even been thinking of getting the kids another Scout and putting this one in a full size stock. It is that nice of a shooter but the stock is ugglyy. Hope the 455 treats you as good as my Scout has treated us.

In the second group I didn;t have as good a point of aim so I just kept aiming for the hole but again at 4x not alot if magnification so some of the vertical could have been me aiming for the " dark spot "

And I am smart enough to never ever sell this one even though I sell everything else. I may not even give it to the kids:)

If you really like it, you won't even LEAVE it to 'em.

I sold mine (a 453) today. I'm really liking the new Ruger.

deflave that is some beautiful scenery there.

Glad the CZ is working out well for you. For the money I think they are one of the best things going.

gremcat;

I bought a CZ Scout for myself! Then added a 1" pad so that it would fit me better.
I also installed the Yo Dave trigger kit, and a Leupold 4x rimfire scope.

This is one great shooting little gun!

The can is still somewhere between lost, and found.

Bloodied this weekend. She's a shooter.

The CZ is dominating the killing fields. And we haven't even hit gopher season yet.

Have only one CZ .22, but it is certainly my favorite.. It even edges out my old 39a.. And the CZ .22 mag. is one of the most accurate I have ever owned..

Travis, Great smile when you are with those children!!!! They are some lucky kids..

Can hath arrived.

I'll see which sub-sonics group the best once gopher season closes:

Good video Travis.....glad that can finally showed up for you.

Dakota Silencer really pissed me off.

But in the end they did what they could to make things right. I may give them another chance.

I wanted to post a quick update on this for those considering this model of Euro-Trash.

The most deadliest rimfire setup I have owned. Not even the slightest debate which 22LR to grab each weekend. I won't try and guess how many critters this thing has killed already but it is definitely more than a little. It has not been cleaned, it has never lost zero. It has shot every brand of rimfire ammo I have put through it well under an inch for 5 shots @ 50yds. Including three different subsonics.

Due to other stupid commitments (like family), gopher season is winding down for the year. Planning on suppressed rockchucks in July or August.

Will update accordingly but as of right now, CZ+DIP+Burris+6X42 with M1's= UBER bang for the rimfire buck.

Love that ricochet after the last shot. Reminds me of my old Daisy Ricochet Rifle.

You probably ain't old enough to 'member those.
