So, what is the consensus on some of the more accurate rifles? I haven't kept on new options in this area.
Thanks for your input.
My E. Arthur Brown single shot, bar none-Muddy
My wife bought a Marlin heavy varmit srainless barrelled thumbhole stocked laminate model last year. It has pretty consistently shot sub-1/2" 3-shot groups at 100 yds. It's a heavy bench rest model.
I bought the heavy barreled Ruger when they first came out. It shoots lights out. It's twin in the .17 HM2 is even more accurate. And that's sayin' something...!
A few years ago Wholesale Sports in Canada got out of Coopers. I bought twin 57M Classics in 22LR and 17HMR for silly low prices, and absolutely love those rifles.

The prices are way up now, but if I was going to buy again I would do exactly the same thing.

My 22 wears a 6X36 LR parallax adjusted to 50 yards, and the HMR a stock 3.5-10X40 B&C. Also just perfect!

The 22 will average Just under 1/2" for five shots at 50 yards with 40gr WW Power Points; the 17 the same but at 100 yards with 17gr V-Maxes.
Ruger 96 lever gun is murder on small game.
I recently purchased a CZ 455 17 HMR, I have tried CCI, Hornady and Remington Premier loads, My rifle shoots the Remington best (.3-.4" 5 shot groups at 50yds) with the other two loads it shoots .5" -.6" groups..........Hb
I can't speak for all of them but my 77-17 All Weather shoots very well with 17gr V-Maxes. 3/4" for 5 at 100 yards if I watch the wind.
Thanks fellas, that is some good information.
Whoop, I have a CZ 452 American and it is a very accurate rifle with the 17 grain V-Max.
I have a CZ 452 that does fine with Vmax but shines with CCI tnt's. Shot 2, 1/4" 5 shot groups today. Have owned 3 Anschutz rifles, that did not shoot that well in 17hmr.
I've a CZ 452FS and a CZ-455 Varmint that both seem to prefer Hornady 17gr ammo depending on the brick they came from. I feel 17 is worse then 22lr in being lot sensitive. Both rifles will group 5 @ 100yds in 1.25" or less most days if the wind isn't too bad.
My Cz 455 shoots tnt and 20g game points very well, but won't shoot the polymer tip ammo for squat. I haven't tried the remington but it's all made by cci so don't know if I will try it or not. I have never measured the groups but it's the size of a nickel at 100 consistent. The 22lr barrel shoots lights out with every ammo I have tried except bulk packs and mini mag 36g.
I went cheap on my .17 and bought a Savage 93 with bull barrel and tupperware stock. It'll do 3/4" groups with 20 gr. CCI or Hornady. It doesn't like 17 gr. as much. It's not much to look at, but you can't argue with the accuracy. Prairie Dogs are not particularly fond of it, though....

Good to read Sam, I've got one too. Inclined to pick up a second one of some brand for the wife. Maybe I'll get another 452 and make it simple. The CZ 22Hornet has been accurate as well.
What would be a reasonable accuracy expectation for a CZ in 22mag? I would like to have an accurate 22mag but know they are few and far between. Winchester should have done the WMR in .22. If it had been accurate, I bet would have sold very well.

Back to the HMR. I told the guy who bought one of my Anschutz 17's that it had not shot hornady Vmax well nor had liked CCI vmax. He turned me on to the tnt's. His point was that they either like Vmax or tnt's but rarely both.
I have 15 rifles chambered in .22 Magnum, none are inaccurate, but most are pretty ammo sensitive. The most accurate are Marlin and Savage bolt guns, while the least accurate are a semi-auto Kodiak 260 and a Rossi 59 pump gun.
I would like to try one. Perhaps a CZ 452 in 22mag.
This was on Saturday at 50y. No wind with Tnt's out of a CZ. Shot in between sessions with my 260 while it cooled. The CZ shoots like a dream and 1/6 the cost of the damn fickle 260.

Only got 3/4" groups when wind picked up a little at 100y with a 3-9 scope.

Dat's a nice group bonefish.
This gun just did not like Vmax's. Someone suggested tnt's to me and everything came together. It is bedded and has a trigger job. Sure the trigger job helped greatly, but not sure if the bedding really mattered.
