My youngest boy wanted a single shot bolt action 22LR with a blued barrel and wood stock for Christmas last year. He was VERY specific! I looked and looked and never found a 452 scout anywhere so I ended up getting him a used marlin 15Y. It has a horrable trigger and it didn't eject at all. So about a three months ago I find the scout. Bought it and he was turning flips. Its a very accurate gun. Its bigger than the savage rascal and the sights are better than most. The wood is really nice and the single shot dumby mag can be replaced with a 5 shot magazine. I give it a 9, woulda been a 10 but the safety is backwards. Awesome gun and the quality is better than I expected for the money.
They're excellent little rifles. Some guys put a fat slip-on pad on them and use them as an adult rifle. They're inclined to be very accurate and reliable. I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up if I came across a good deal.

Glad to hear your son is happy with his shooter!
What do you guys figure a good used scout, with box and magazine + ss adaptor
no sights is worth?
Best,
Chuck

I have one for my daughter and it is a nice little shooter. At 7 years old she's shooting shotgun shells at 50 yards with regularity.
