I need a set of bases and rings for my 52B. Would like to keep them as low as possible. I have a B&L 3-9x40mm scope I might use. Any thoughts on this?
Is it a repro or an original?

Leupold occasionally makes a run of the bases for the 52B and C repros and you can find them if you search around but they aren't easy to find. If original, you would need to get a Vianni style mount which are expensive or have your receiver drilled and tapped. Also, there are some Browning bases if you can find them for the 52 Browning repros, which are a copy of the 52C but have the same base hole pattern. Then, any standard rings will fit.

The height of your scope will depend more on the swing of the bolt handle than the height of the rings. You'll be lucky to get by with medium rings with most scopes.

Your best bet is to check on Rimfirecentral.com in the Winchester forum or the Trading Post (classifieds). They have been extremely helpful to me when I've needed information.

Here are a couple I found for sale. Might have to hurry on the gunbroker units.

It's a repro - thanks! Inquired about a set of S&K this morning
After mulling it over for a few weeks I went with Weaver Grand Slam bases, a set of their high rings and a Classic Rimfire 3-9x32AO scope. I sighted it in today with CCI Velocitors and after a few adjustments got a 5 shot, 1 ragged hole group at 50 yards. I’m pumped to get that kind of group with hunting ammo.

I think I used Burris on mine but the bases are fairly high.
I bought a Winchester 52 bolt handle and modified it so that it would have a lower lift and I could use lower rings. I ended up putting a Leupold 6x Alasakan on it and probably could have used the original bolt handle and medium rings.
