I have a Buckmark and a Challenger II and I like both of them, but I think a Victory looks pretty nice also. Does anyone have any first hand experience with one and what is your opinion of it?

+1 Agree with Huntsman22, i picked up the first one local gs had. i like it a bunch. so much that the rugers havent been out since it came home. the grip is a little smaller in my opinion. but it shoots great and no complaints, about 2k rounds so far. nice to have one that is that easyh to take apart ant clean.

I had the chance to handle one at my local gun store and thought the same thing. however as i recall they do offer other grip profiles so there may be one more to my liking. i've been thinking about one of these for a near future purchase, glad to hear they are holding their own.

Huntsman22 that is a good looking setup! I'm glad to hear you guys are happy with yours, the only negative comments I've seen are about the takedown bolt loosening itself but that's a easy fix. There seems to be a lot of aftermarket support also.

I passed on a threaded Victory at my local GS. Went back a day later to take it home only to find it had sold. I have no experience with one but they sure feel good in hand a break down easy!

Huntsman I do believe if you don't have the particular rimfire in question you have at one time or another.

I purchased one of the first ones to hit the local Gun Shop. I love the pistol. The first thing I did was remove the magazine cut off so it can be fired without the magazine installed.

I am not real pleased with my Victory. It keeps trying to disassemble itself while shooting. The two take down screws get so loose that the barrel will rattle if you shake the pistol. I assembled it with vibratite last night and will know if that works on Tuesday. Smith and Wesson should have figured this problem out prior to release. I read on another forum that some owners are using O rings to solve the issue.

This is the fix a lot of people are using for the barrel nut.

Seems like a lot of owners are removing the barrel just to clean or play around with the gun. Most reports say these screws are very very tight from the factory. And are becoming loose after owner R&R. Typical shooter not even using a torque wrench. On a new gun, understandable, but; now the word is out. This is a potential problem spot.

If i ever buy one, I would not be messing with that screw unless that was the only way to remove the bolt for a once per 1000 round cleaning. Am, I wrong or is it necessary to remove the barrel for a basic cleaning?

A new gun can be like a first year new model auto. There maybe some little improvements over time.

I dont like the lock washer idea. I dont know what is going on here but it might turn out that due to a design error a new screw is required for each time the barrel is removed. That would be like head bolts on an engine. They can only be loaded to full torque on time.

I bought one as soon as LGS had them. Very nice pistol. Feels good in my hand, decent trigger and accurate. I installed the included rail and a Ultra Dot. Very nice combo.

As others have said, the take down screw can loosen when firing. It is tight from the factory, tighter than the supplied Allen wrench can do without snapping. Happened to me twice. My "fix" was/is a drop of low or medium strength (I've used both) Lock Tight. No problems since, shooting a thousand rounds or so. For me it's a non issue. I've read others who say it's a deal breaker.

The real solution to any loose gun screw is blue locktite

It isn't that a loose screw stumps, rather it is the fact that Smith and Wesson designed the pistol that way. Of course it can be held in place with loc-tite but it shouldn't need to be.

My Victory will land here in a few days, so we'll see what the deal is. The lock-washer seems like the logical fix, if needed.

I don't see the need tear one down all that often anyway. I used a bore-snake as needed on my .22/45 for years, along with an occasional Gunscrubber blast through the open action, and had zero issues.

My Victory came in and I picked it up today. My FFL is at the range, so after the paperwork, I walkd over to,the line and let 'er rip. So far, so good. No malfunctions, even with the crappy Federal bulk I picked up during Obama Panic 1.

Quibbles are few and minor; the biggest being you can't dry fire it. When I got it home, I went on Youtube and watched the piece on removing the mag safety again and took it out. Took longer to find the right Allen key for the grips than to actually do it.

Nice little gun. I already like it better than the .22/45 I sold. Next comes mounting a Fastfire.

Here's mine Pappy and some results. Those are initial groups after sighting in the Red Dot. About 50-60' from a crude rest. I'm still playing with it. My wife doesn't shoot or hunt. She tried it one evening and I couldn't keep mags loaded fast enough for her. I really like the pistol. Feels good, trigger is decent, zero failures( a few duds I blame on cheaper bulk ammo).
I estimate 1500 rounds shot so far. Hope you have continued good luck with yours. BTW, what area of WV are you from? I'm near Wheeling.

Going to try a sight like the Fastfire someday soon. I like their size. The Ultra Dot is fun for paper, plinking and Bullseye. Kinda big though for much else.

Most of the land around here used to belong to G. Washington and his family. The very first house he owned, a cabin built for him about a mile and a half from here, had become part of a larger house built later. That house, sadly, was damaged so badly in a fire that it had to be knocked down. The current owners live in what used to be, I think, a carriage house.

Lots of Civil War history around here as well. The first time I ever mowed my yard, I found a minie ball stuck in the clay.

You inspired me tonight huntsman22. At Cabela's this evening I found a Burris FF3 for $199. Brought it home, mounted it and killed some paper and beer cans before dark. Needs more work but I like it so far. The line on the rear of the sight really helps me keep everything plumb. Thanks.




Pappy, that's the history I remember. Visited the armory site and the home where John Brown was hung. Have also visited the near by battle fields. I'm always on the look out for artifacts but no luck. Buddy of mine found a mini on our 6th grade field trip to Gettysburg (1970's). Guess that has always stuck

I have a generic .22 auto holster from Blackhawk on backorder, but today I went browsing through my box-o-holsters looking for a temporary solution.

With the adjustable sight in place, a Fobus BR-2 paddle hoster fits it "like it's got eyes", as my uncles used to say. It also fits okay with the rail and Fastfire, but the rail pries it open a bit at the top; okay for the range maybe, but not quite secure enough for field carry. The BR-2 is desiged to carry M9s, CZ75s, and the like. A little trimming of the rail forward of where the FF sits should fix that.

The other good one I found that works is an old, American made Uncle Mike's shoulder hoster meant for large SAs like the 7 1/2" Bisley I used to carry in it. It fits well, even with the rail and FF, and the strap goes over the trigger guard properly. The only potential problem is that the mag release is right against the fabric and might let go if bumped. The holster fits so well, I'm going to figure out a fix for that.

huntsman, Do you have a holster that fits your Victory? I have a suppressor waiting form 4 approval and I'm thinking a Victory would be a better choice than buying a threaded barrel for my Buckmark.

The red dot on yours looks like the perfect addition too.

I don't have one to fit the suppressor. I carry mine in a pistol rug in the truck or on the quad. If I need to carry it, I just jam it in between my belt and my britches. Hasn't not worked well yet.....

I finally got around to ordering the victory and went ahead and ordered a Burris FF3 to mount on top. Soon I will get the charging ring also! I'm looking forward to testing it out and will report the results. The suppressor will have to wait for now it's a pain in the neck to get one in my neck of the woods, but did get the threaded barrel version just in case! Thanks for all the input from you guys with first hand experience.

Just finished installing the TanemKross trigger. I like it so far. Dropped pull around 1#, and lessened pre travel. Wasn't sure I'd like the flat rough faced trigger front. Now that I've spent some time with it, I do.

Next up, Halo and Volquartsen threaded barrel. Can should be home by late spring.

Just watched the installation video for the trigger. Think I need one. The shape of the stock unit doesn't fit me very well. I end up with the end of the trigger poking the tip of my finger. $40 is a great price.

I have my Victory listed on GB right now. Bit of an oddity a 6 in barrel thats PORTED, was told it was a special run for a big box store. Includes 4 mags and a Walther red dot....shoots GREAT! shoots right with my Trailsides but ive committed to them so it needs to go.
