I have been wanting to shoot a 22 lr with a suppressor for a while and I figured now was as a good time as any
I bought a Mossberg 714 with a threaded barrel but the factory 25 round clip s--ked as most people have said--plus the factory brake was almost impossible to remove--so its going on the block!!!!
So,I have picked up a 10/22 with a bull barrel to replace it.I loved my 10/22 mag but economic factors made me sell it( good times have returned so I got a H&K 300). What would you say I need to up grade for shooting suppressed? This Ruger is basically stock except for the barrel.
Most of my experience with the 10/22 magnum has been forgotten.

Nothing.

Thread a can on there with some standard velocity ammo of a headstamp of your choosing and have a ball.

Really, it's about that simple.

Figure out what your gun likes.

I have a full auto suppressed 10-22, shooting it's like running a sewing machine. Did some work on it to keep the bolt from hitting metal on metal when firing. It's really quiet now, but with any rifle the firing pin needs to be toned down, I made some replacements out of titanium, and they work just fine, a dull thud now. The 10-22 is a fun gun, alot can be done with it. Buy your self a good suppressor and have fun, but stock up on the rounds they go fast.

I have 2 threaded 10/22's and also built my brother one. I went with the Tactisol SB-X barrels and cheap Hogue stocks. Can't beat them for the price. If you don't want the shrouded short SB-X, go with the X-Ring barrel from Tactisol. You definitely do not want a heavy steel barrel. Been there....done that.

Scope of choice is the Nikon Prostaff 4x scope. Not sure that they make it any longer. But the Nikon Prostaff rimfire scopes are fantastic.

I also have two 10/22's that I shoot suppressed. One sports a TACSOL SB-X barrel, which is really nice, but not cheap if you're on a budget. The other has the factory barrel that I sent to ADCO firearms and had threaded and the front sight moved back.

Both are tons of fun to blast away with.
