As posted on the thread in the Hunting Rifles Forum, Tikka gave us permission to start a pre-order on the new Tikka T1X rimfire. I decided to give members here first shot at the rifles. We've already placed our order with Tikka. They'll be available in 22LR and 17HMR. We expect a late April, early May delivery.

I'll post the links for each rifle on our website below. Those links will be the only way for you to get in line on here. PM's are confusing because of screen names/real names and we can't process any orders from a PM.

To order the rifle, you'll need to hit the "click here for price" button and submit your email address in the space provided. We'll send a reply email with the price for the rifle. You'll need to add the rifle to your cart from that email. That's the only way to add the rifle to your cart. It can't be done from the original product page. You have the option to pay for the gun in full or place the rifle on lay a way. The lay a way option is all that's required to secure your order. Lay a way does require 15% down.

As always, you can send us an email with any questions or any issues that may arise. Eric and Cody will be managing the pre-sale and most of you know they're superb to work with!

As always, thanks for the business!
Done for a .17

P
Done !
Darrik, you jumped all over that bud. I can't help but think these rifles are going to leave their mark on the rimfire world.
Darrik

Thanks for the pre-order option! I'm about to order a 22.
Any chance of a 16" barreled 22 in the future ?
Any Idea of the scope mounting system ?

Thanks
Darrik - you are a bad, bad man!! .17HMR ordered and paid for.

Now for the wait!!

By the way, if anyone is on the edge of ordering but wondering about Whittaker - DON'T worry. I've purchased a few things and each and every transaction has been perfect. Although I normally handload, I stumbled across a fantastic Federal factory round for my .270 Winchester a few months ago. Needed some more and submitted an order on Wednesday of this week. My friendly UPS driver delivered them to me today (Friday). Amazing! This is for a small order of a couple boxes of ammo. They are the best!
Do you have extra mags on order? How much will they be?
The links won't open on my iPhone for some reason; but this site is fine?
Darrik,

Any future plans for left-handed models? If so, is there a date?

Thanks,

Bob
I have a meeting scheduled with them at SHOT. I’ll get answers on any future models at that time. I’ll get back with mag prices as well. They’re on order.

Make sure you have the latest update of iOS downloaded. Apple makes things difficult at times. It has nothing to do with the site. It’s all about iOS.

I may be interested in a 16" 22LR
Does anyone know if they will offer a stainless model. I will definitely buy one but I dont want to pre order a blued one and then Tikka releases a stainless model after the blued model. You know what I mean?
Anxious to see if modified Talley's are the "thing" for these as well....
I am considering one of these also just waiting a bit to get some more info

What's the ring/scope mounting situation on these? They by chance come with a mount/rings?

This a get them on the street price or will they be considerably more you think?

I will say I've ordered from whitakker before and wouldn't hesitate to order again from them. Process was easy and painless.
$419.99 was the price quoted by Whittaker's via email.
With Tikka getting in the rim fire game, makes me wonder what Sako has up their sleeve?
It won't matter if they get the T1X right 😬
I jumped in. Wanted a 17 for a bit now.
I ordered mine on Whittaker’s. Man, am I excited! I was going to buy a shotgun with Christmas money but now I went and bought a Leupold 1200i range finder, a Tikka T1X, and a Nikon 3-9x40 EFR AO scope for it!

Any update on the mounting rings? Will T3 equipment work? If I can order the same DNZ Game Reaper I have on my T3, I will order it and be ready to rock!

Is there an estimated shipping date (or month or quarter or year) in the T1X?

Thank you!
Curious to see how much of this rifle is modified/adapted T3 parts.
Update:
Just met with my Tikka rep. No mags are on order. They've not listed the SKU yet. I'm sure that will happen in the next few weeks. He's also going to check on the mounting options. It's drilled/tapped/rail just like the T3X. He's checking on spacing. No stainless models will be available for 2018. He doesn't have knowledge on future availability.

Good info, thanks for passing along.
This internet thing sure is expensive....

Looking forward to this, though; deposit sent. The T3 being what it is, am eager to see what tikka ginned up.
Was waiting to buy a finnfire, but couldnt resist!
Just pulled the trigger on one of these. Can't wait. Now it's time to shop for a scope. Probably a 20 moa rail too as I'll be using this out to 200 yards. Wondering if anyone makes such a thing yet. I guess the search is on !
shortactionsmoker, do you have any information on the availability of T1x .22LR with 16" barrel? When you anticipate accepting pre-orders? Thanks!
This oughta whet some appetites:T1x Fieldsports
[bleep]....
I have two, 22 rifles already..... maybe I'll wait for ultra lite 17.

Awesome, when the left hand version comes out (hopefully next year) I'm buying one for my wife to go with her LH T 3 6.5x55. I have a nice LH CZ 452 but this new gun is going to be a huge hit.
T3 stock and trigger, pretty smart. Why reinvent the wheel?
I misjudged this offering. It appears that Tikka rifle owners will be a ready market for matching Tikka rimfires. Since I dont own a Tikka and not been impressed with the sako rimfire, my reception is little cooler. My Ruger experience was that the QC is un-acceptable. It is a great design, trigger and action. I ended up buying two before I was fully satisifed. The early issues include cockeyed sights and stock forearm rubbing the barrel. If Tikka can price match, match performance and up the QC, that should get it done. It will never be a beautiful walnut stock gun like Anschutz or CZ, but; they could provide stiff competition in the plastic class. The Tikka name, gives them a head start. All they have to do is "not mess up".

This maybe just me, but; I would thank that any plastic/synthetic stocked rifles would default to stainless. Rugged, all weather, I mean what is the point blue steel and plastic? Just cheap? It has got to me. If not stainless, then some miracle coating like they use on handguns. Not matt. Tough. Stainless does not even meed a finish. That should offset the small uptick in material or machining cost. Yea, I got a Ruger, I took what was offered.
Tikka Tupperware is quite a bit different than Ruger/Remington in my experience and QC spanks them both.
So the receiver inlet is the same as the standard Tikka. Is the trigger guard inlet the same as well? Meaning, will standard Tikka inlets from McMillan and Manners work for this?
so, will all the bottom "metal" fit and t1x barreled action fit into a t3/t3x stock? sorry wildcat just reread your post. i kinda asked the same thing ha!

I think they mention it
I just ordered a .22 for the daughter, now to find the right optics for it.
Anybody know what the thread size is on the HMR?
just put my order in too
Whats everyone going to put on them for a scope?
SWFA 10x, mil-quad reticle.

Think I'm going SWFA 6X or 10X as well since the tax day sale is about here. Do the T3x bases fit this action? Going with Burris Tactical rings if I can so I can put some cant in. Daughter wants to learn a little bit about LR shooting, thought this might make a decent trainer.
With the 11mm rail, just using the J&P Custom weaver scope rail adapter and Burris Signature rings here. Same set up on my Browning T-Bolt that works well.
I see the receiver is drilled and tapped. Does anybody know if standard T3 bases will work? I preordered mine and will get some Talley LW’s awhile if they will work.
Heard a rumor yesterday that the ATF is holding up the importing of the Tikka T1x, which could delay deliver's! Anybody got any other info on this?

Its the same as the QUAD. I picked up the Dpi rail which Im told will work. However, it remains to be confirmed 100%

Shortactionsmoker - Do you have an anticipated ship date yet ? Getting anxious. I'm like a 8 year old at Christmas time.

Just got the email from Whittaker's. Looks like shipments have been delayed a month. Now they are expecting end of May/beginning of June.
I hope these rifles start shipping soon,Im looking forward to some reviews.
If anyone preordered a 17 hummer and doesn’t want it, let me know. I missed out on the preorder.
shortactionsmoker

Anyword on arrival into the states yet ? Have they even been shipped from Finland ???

How about an update please.
Any word on 22mag availability? Ever?

Bueller, Bueller, Bueller....

In the FWIW column......I contacted Whittaker's late last week and asked if they knew anything about when these rifles may be coming in and the individual I spoke with said "as soon as we know you will know". So we wait laugh

PennDog
I just read this on rimfirecentral:

http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10985282&postcount=92
This is why pre-orders are a bad idea. Learned that the hard way, with a MRC lefty action.
Whittakers just cancelled my T1x layaway order (ordered in Feb.) No explanation given - not good.
Was yours the .22 or the .17 Did you pay the full amount or the 15%.Checked my mail nothing to me yet
I'm sure that Darrik will ensure that everyone who deals with him directly or through Whittaker's will be treated the fairly. He always has in the past, so there is no reason to doubt that he will continue to do so now and in the future.

That about wraps it up...
Guys,

The orders aren't actually cancelled. The cancellation notice you're receiving is automated because it's exceeding the specified time limit in the computer.. You only receive the notice if the gun (preorder) was on layaway. Guns that were paid in full won't receive the notice. THE ORDERS ARE NOT CANCELLED INTERNALLY. Eric and Cody have been reaching out on an individual basis when a cancellation notice is sent, but today is Saturday and they're not here.

Everything is fine with each order. Nobody is losing any money and you're orders are still active in our system. As always, send us an email if something goes astray.

And that was a piss poor answer from someone here. The rifles were delayed in customs and Tikka is being very vague about delivery. I'll get you a real answer Monday.
SAS......appreciate your response. I’m good with whenever they come in but a friend of mine ordered one also and I told him I’d follow up with Whitaker’s and that was what I got. I’ll be sure to let him know what you report!

Sad but so it goes... Better they sort out the Bugs before the release. A thin comfort for those who eagerly await their new Gun BUT better the thing/problem was detected before it hits the final market. QC is a good thing
This , together with the Global demand, slows things down - once again.

What it is, exactly , i don’t know. My Cousin, who has one , was asked to send in his - for a check.

This was posted from a member in Finland.

This may separate the men from the cry babies. Easy for me to say, Tikka has no 22mag plans. I can just watch.
Hey SAS,
I’m good with whenever they show up. They get here when they get here.

Hope these rifles turn out to be shooters. Wife is right handed and wants a 17 for shooting small vermin off the back porch at distances up to 100 yards
I got an email this morning that my Whittaker's layaway cancellation was an automatic system reply after 120 days. I called Whittakers and all is back on track for my .22 T1x ( paid in full on the phone today). I was told and update should be coming soon but that Europe T1x's had some issues.
Quick update --

We've emailed and called. Everybody we've talked to is pushing it to someone else. I hope we get some firm answers tomorrow. I'll give you another update as soon as they respond to the last email.
Thank you SAS. Really getting anxious. Like an 8 year old at Christmas.
Any more updates? I've got a fat whistle pig lurking around back just about every day. I could easily dispatch him with my 10/22 as I've done so many times before but was hoping to take down vermin this summer with the Tikka.

Almost another month has passed us by. Any word from Berreta, Sako, Tikka ?
The website for Hyatt gun store shows an expected delivery date of 10/26 on orders. I'm hoping they just picked that date out of the air
Email from whittaker

Guys,

Well…. We have some news, but it’s not good unfortunately. Below is exactly what I received via email about 30 mins ago. As always, we are not trying to sugar coat anything, deceive, or withhold any information. Again, if we would have had any idea this was even a slight possibility we would have never started taking pre-orders. Historically speaking Tikka has shipped new products in a timely manner.

Here is the email I received. If you have any questions, please let us know!

Got some news, although it’s not very good.

Finland plans to get a whopping 300 unit out before they go on summer holiday/shutdown. That sounds great, until you find out the 300 units is for worldwide distribution and for some untold reason, they are going to be in 17HMR.

We are trying to get clarity on how many will come to us.

Sorry man, not sure what else to tell you other than once we get some .22’s, you will be the first to know.

Thanks
Eric

Whittaker Guns
It's almost like Tikka's taking a page out of Kel-Tec's book, although I assume the Tikka will be a bit higher quality...
If it wasn’t for the fact that I can’t find a buyer for the NIB Nikon EFR 3-9x40 AO scope I bought back in the first week of January when I ordered this rifle with some Christmas money from my in-laws, I would already have canceled this order and bought the Remington V3 when the Dove Days rebates come out in a week or two.

I was going to save that money till this August for that purpose and looks like I got too trigger happy with it!
I have the same scope sitting in a box waiting to go on mine as well.
I have a 17 HMR on order. Crossing my fingers.

P

I understand that this is not Whittaker's/Eric's fault... but what a cluster this has been.

It'll be a flippin year before we see the .22 LR's frown
I’m so pissed about this I don’t even know what to say. I’m losing lots of confidence in the management at Beretta/Tikka.

Things better change fast! They’ve screwed up everything they’ve touched recently.

My apologies to all. This is totally out of my control and all I can do is hope they make it right once they finally ship.
Meh......they’ll get here when they get here. I have plenty of other toys that go bang. Besides, I’ve forgotten about this enough times already I’ll be excited all over again when they finally ship!

Thanks for the heads up Darrick!
I highly doubt that anyone who ordered one, its their first and only rimfire. And if it is, go get a 10/22 or something that strikes your fancy and just wait. It’s not really that big of a deal, other than the Gimmies! I can wait, it’s just another toy anyway. I lost more money on a startup company that promised state of the art bluetooth wireless ear buds.

I appreciate the continued reaching out and updates as you get them.
Maybe you could convince them to throw in some free rings, a spare mag, or a case for making everyone wait so long
Any word if they plan on offering a walnut stock for the T1X? Will the T3 stocks fit?

If they do walnut, I'd change my order get it!

That whole point of the design is that they use ANY TX3 stock.
Cool. I'd like a walnut one!

Have enough plastic guns.

Or maybe some of us should send email to a Tikka contact with a "THANK YOU" note. That is a big, thank you, for not pulling a "RUGER". You get my meaning?

For those who dont get the point. "Thank you Tikka for getting the product right before releasing it to North America. The longer I wait, the more inclined I am, to risk a new product purchase when they are released.

You are a damn good guy who does his best to help us all out. I feel badly for you.
I have several other great shooting 22's. I was hoping to add another one, and try the Tikka. After all this wait, I finally cancelled my order and received a full refund. I'll spend my money elsewhere and continue to shoot what I already own.

+2 on that - don’t sweat the small stuff (and this is minutiae) they’ll get here when they get here!

PennDog
yea, +3. I would prefer to wait and get it right (as in bug free) than see it on schedule.
And look at it this way, now we get a Christmas rifle under the tree!

Nothing like unwrapping a rifle on Christmas Day.

P
Anyone know how long Tikka's summer shutdown is? Have they resumed production?
In Europe, usually the entire month of August is vacation time.

I would assune they woukd be back at work no later than next week.
Back to work, you lazy European fugks!

Sonofabitch! grin

Really hoping to 17 a grouse's head this fall.

Eric or Cody, Any more communications from Finland ?
I emailed Whittaker's over the weekend they got back to me yesterday with this:

"We haven’t heard a peep from anyone at Beretta USA. I talked to my rep last week, and it seems that is because their product team isn’t really sharing any details with them. I know this is becoming frustrating for you, as it is for us. At this point, we are regretting pre-selling, as it has caused a lot of headaches for everyone involved. The moment we know more, everyone will too.

Thanks

Eric"

I’m looking at it differently.

I try to forecast my taxes so I don’t get much back, or I even have to pay a little, come April. Sometimes I don’t forecast very well and I get a surprise. This is like that.

P
I'm not looking to hang anyone. As others have stated, I'd prefer to have a safe firearm the first time, rather than have to send it back for a safety recall.
Meh.......I’ve seen McMillan stocks take longer.

I ain’t in much of a hurry anyway. Lots of other toys to play with.
I've been holding off making a road trip to Whittaker's until the Tikkas come in, I'd like to compare them to the Zephyr IIs (I have several CZs already). Looks like I'll have to wait a bit longer.

I too would like to see the Zephyr
Are these rifles a dead issue?
I received an email from Whitakers a few weeks ago. They said that the .17 HMR's were in the states waiting on USCS to clear them. But no word on the .22 LR's yet.
tag for updates
Whittaker's last email came on Oct 9. I just googled Tikka T1x within the last month and saw a Facebook page for "Valley Arms Shooting Supplies" in the UK that had the T1x's in stock in both 17HMR and 22LR. The photo had 3 boxes 1 being a 22 and the other 2 being 17's. That photo was also posted on the 9th. Hopefully if they are being distributed in the UK ours are not very far off.

Been waiting since January 23rd... What's another month or two ?
Cancelled mine and got a CZ455....bird in the hand and all. wink
I called Beretta today and they said 22lr will be shipping “Q1 of next year”.

I don’t mind waiting if that’s part of the deal up front, but this business of putting a rifle up for sale and then ghosting their customers for a year has left a real bad taste in my mouth concerning Beretta/Tikka.
That's pretty terrible. If they knew it was going to take that long they shouldn't have allowed their distributors to take pre-orders. Basically Tikka/Beretta set up a go fund me account so they could continue to develop/work out the bugs in their rifle. I could see having to wait that long a couple of years ago when manufacturers were selling everything they could make but I have a feeling that's not the case for Tikka. Like you said it would be different knowing we wouldn't get the rifle for a year up front but we've been strung along by Beretta/Tikka the whole way.
Just got "the call" - my .17 HMR is shipping and should have it next week!! Probably should go buy a lottery ticket today.

Looking forward to the shiny new toy.

Me too! Very happy.

P
Wooo!

The only bad thing about waiting so long is expectations can get out of hand! Lol.

Bet they won’t dissapoint.
What is rhe street price for these.
I think the price or the 17 hmr was about $450.

Mine is hopefully shipping today!
Projection is Wednesday, 11/7. I’ll post pics.

P
Came in late today, I’ll pick her up tomorrow.
Picked mine up Tuesday - planning a range trip over the weekend.
Picked up mine today. Just a cursory fondle, but so far looks nice. Machining and function looks A plus. Everything is slick working. Trigger is great.

Magazine is what it is, little polymer job. Release seems a bit easy to work but is recessed well.

Typical Tikka stock.

Super handy and feels great in the hand.

Need rings.

Excited to shoot it!
What size dovetail do they have?
11 mm...T3 Talley rings are supposed to work as well.
I just ordered Talley 11mm dovetails in low for the Leupold scope.
What scope/obj size are you putting on it?

Was just looking at rings. Might go with the Burris Signature rings for 11mm dovetails. That or find a pic rail to fit.
Leupold VX2 3-9x40. No CDS, otherwise it’s just like my big Tikkas. I’m going to use the .17 as practice, like shooting free throws before the big game.

P
Scoped with a spare VX2 3-9x40 CDS, Talley 11mm dovetail rings.

Looks good Pharmseller.....now we need to see how it shoots😄
I tried to swap stocks with a T3, it didn’t fit.
Bummer. I was wanting to try a T3 walnut stock.

Oh well.

Still haven’t bought mounts for mine. Was looking at Pyramid Air web site. They have a ton of mounts for 11mm set ups.

What was wrong? With all the promoting they've done on that attribute they are going to have a lot of explaining to do if it doesn't work.

The barrel just forward of the action is too wide, so the action doesn’t sit right in the stock.

Th 22LR is available from sheels $470. I dont know if they ship. They list both 22LR and 17HRM.

I called and the Wisconsin store had two (in 22lr) in stock at $470....FWIW so hopefully Whittaker’s will be getting some in soon?

OK decided to call Whittaker’s and this is what I heard:

“We received about 50 guns in .22lr and shipped those out to the folks that pre-ordered (in order of pre-order position - I assumed that part). Beretta screwed up (yet again) and sent the majority to Scheel’s. No idea when next ones will be in but when they come in they will go out to the pre-order people”.

Well guess the wait continues - kinda a shame such hoopla around the pre-orders then continual disappointment since....really hope the things shoot other wise the whole fiasco will be a disappointment - Beretta will surely lose some future business with the lack of customer service?!

PennDog
No they won’t.
They will from me😊
I expect to have a 10x the number of Beretta firearms next year that I have now. ZERO.
My 22 from Whittakers was finally delivered Friday I picked it up at my FFL Saturday morning. I haven't shot it yet didn't realize I had rings that wouldn't work. Hopefully the weather holds out and I can shoot it by the end of the week.

Talley 11mm dovetails in low
Fondled a .17 at Bud's a few weeks ago. I've decided I'd REALLY like one of the .22's this year. Would like to chop it at 16.5", a 6x Super Chicken, and a can.

As long as I've read about gun stuff on the internet I've learned one thing, if you "pre-order" something new that is introduced at the SHOT show, it's gonna be vaporware until around the next SHOT show. If you had to "pre-order" it, it ain't in production yet. Despite the best of intentions, crap will happen when a new product hits the production line. Any and all promises will go out the window.

Yeah I missed the 11mm thing and took the "use all of your T3 accessories" too literally. I had a set of the free rings the T3's used to come with was figuring on using those until I actually saw the gun. At least I didn't buy the wrong parts. Ended up ordering some Talley lightweights in low.

What was wrong? With all the promoting they've done on that attribute they are going to have a lot of explaining to do if it doesn't work.

The barrel just forward of the action is too wide, so the action doesn’t sit right in the stock.

That is a steaming pile of chit..

Never mind my snarky comment.
Are the preorder guns still shipping?I'm later in the preorder just wondering if guns are being delivered or it was a one time shipment.
Willy, don't know where I was in the ordering, but received mine today (was contacted about a week ago re: ffl). So, hang in there.
how are these shooting for you Doc?
Unfortunately, don’t know yet. Blew an acl new years day, and my tinker-shop is a long icy walk away from the house. Be a while. Certainly a good looking design but for the rather massive mag proportions. Thinking of putting one of those burris 3-9x rimfire illuminated #4’s on it, or a conques 4x. Maybe by march can be shootimg off the back porch, at least

My bad, guess that burris isn’t rimfire, but
im interested in one and was just wondering
Is it OK to dry fire the T1x?
I preordered mine on feb 14 and it shipped yesterday. They are getting a few in every 2-3 weeks per Eric
Do we know if Tikka plans to bring the short barrel 22lr (16 inches I think) to the US market?
I''v e had my HMR for about a month and a half now and the starling's have noticed

that my effective range has increased.
Any update of the pre orders? I ordered a 17 hmr in August and haven’t heard anything.
Don't know about the 17 but the 22 order is about 11 months.Guns ordered in March are being delivered.
My 22 t1x arrived april 3rd. 2019 exactly 1 year to the day i ordered and paid for it. Long wait, but was worth it as it shoots lights out and is so smooth.
