I have a Timney trigger on a R700. Suddenly went from the factory set 2.5# to 5#. Noticed this when squeezing off on a nice Antelope buck. The first time I ever had trouble with a Timney. I have several. I checked it later and it seemed fine. Then started noticing varied pull weights. Took it off reinstalled it and readjusted it myself. Ran a cleaner lube through it first. Ran the weght adjustment screw in and out then set it at 2.5". Before it varied 1.3#-5+. Now 2-3.5#. Tried to get a hold of Timney but got sent to a recording. No return call. Sent an email and got a responce in 2 days. We can send an RMA. I accepted. No responce 2 days later. This could take awhile. Covid?

Crappy customer service.

I have never had to deal with Timney's customer service but was never a fan of their 700 triggers, always a better 700 trigger like Jewell, trigger tech etc. Just put a couple Timney's in my Ruger American's and they are simply amazing !!!!!!!

Most companies right now are having staffing issues and customer service issues but Timney is a good company that has been in business a long time, be patient and I'm sure they will take care of you

Most places are using covid as an excuse to not hire anyone and to put all their resources into production and ignore customers.

I sat in many meetings and saw that. Even heard them say f@&k the customer, we are going to play the game.

I got out of manufacturing asap after that, as I refused to lie to customers and avoid them as I was ordered to do.

I'm going to say that the sear has not been hardened properly.

Never had a problem with a timney or triggertech for that matter. Did send one back to timney this year for a modification. They sent the trigger back with the modification cleaned and adjusted at no charge. Did you clean it as per their instructions? The only lube they recommend is lighter fluid.

I had a Weatherby Vanguard trigger sent back because they did not harden the sear properly. The same exact symptoms the OP is having with his trigger.

Thanks for the replys. Timney called 5 days later with shipping instructions and #. Yes I cleaned it. I used lighter fluid. Same symptoms. I then used Tetra Action Blaster followed by Triple Action. After that it only varied by a # or so.

Thanks to Redneck who sold me my first one on a rifle he worked on of mine....best thing that ever, ever happened to "my shooting world"! I used to be a big Shilen Trigger user ( along with many others) but one day out int he desert a "tiny" piece of sage leaf stuck it. end of shooting. What I love about TT is you can esily adjust the weight in the field ( when it gets really cold, my hands hurt/get stiff, so go to 3#) and it will work "full of gunk" in tests! I found that I really like the TT Special- 1 to 3.5# model. Good luck to you Pard.
